Bandalseom Korean BBQ in Ansan: 400g hanwoo lunch, Cheongnyuok

In short

Cheongnyuok is a butcher-shop-style Korean beef restaurant in the Bandalseom district of Ansan, Gyeonggi. Three of us went for lunch and had a 400g assorted hanwoo (Korean beef) platter with the lunch-menu hanwoo doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for 75,000 won total, refilling the seasoned raw crab and green onion kimchi that come as free side dishes. With private rooms and parking on floors 2 to 5 of the building, Cheongnyuok works well for a Bandalseom weekday lunch or a team dinner.

Reviewing a Bandalseom beef restaurant I went to for lunch last week — I'm drooling just thinking about it.. 🫪

Parking on floors 2–5, registered when you pay

The building above the restaurant has parking from floors 2 to 5, so it was really convenient. Honestly, when I'm driving, parking is basically my top priority when picking a place to eat ㅠ hahaha. Of course you can register your parking — just do it when you pay on the way out. Looked like they gave 5 hours.

Private rooms inside, good for team dinners

Inside, there's a separate room plus regular tables. For gatherings or team dinners, booking the room seems great for a private meal. We were there for lunch so we just sat outside.

There's a self-serve bar for side dishes so you can take as much as you want! The green onion kimchi here is so good you have to go back for more.

On the menu: tuna sashimi and unlimited soju for daytime drinking

Took a photo of the menu. Lots of lunch options, and I was surprised they even had tuna sashimi hahaha. So many things to pair with drinks.. 🐷 Oh, and for daytime drinking, soju was free-flow! I burst out laughing when I saw that — next time we'll need to take a taxi here hahaha.

What three of us ordered for lunch, and the 75,000 won bill

There were three of us, and since it was lunch we kept it light: 400g hanwoo assorted platter / lunch menu hanwoo doenjang jjigae / lunch menu bibim naengmyeon, all for ₩75,000. I liked that there were so many lunch menu options — they also had galbitang (short rib soup) and bulgogi hot pot! Probably why there were a lot of office workers in uniform coming in for lunch.

Basic table setting that comes with a grilled meat order

Since we ordered grilled meat, this is the basic table setting we got. Overall it came out clean and tidy, which I liked. Service was fast and friendly too — good.

Seasoned crab served as a basic side dish

Pay. Attention.

They serve seasoned crab as a basic side dish here.. if you like crab, you really have to go.. We refilled ours. So good 🐷

400g hanwoo assorted platter arranged by cut

The 400g hanwoo platter, an even mix of cuts

The 400g hanwoo assorted platter came with a good mix of cuts, easy to eat. For lunch, it's a good amount to share as a side dish among three people like us. Compared to the other menu items, it's a great value pick, so I'll probably order this again next time.

Green onion kimchi on a plate
Table setting with green onion kimchi and water kimchi

The green onion kimchi and water kimchi were also delicious, but all three of us agreed the green onion kimchi was the best hahaha. Wanted to eat it with Chapagetti.. It's slightly sweet, so it's hard to dislike.

Lunch-set doenjang jjigae with beef brisket and a bowl of rice

Lunch-menu hanwoo doenjang jjigae with brisket and a bowl of rice

I liked that the doenjang jjigae had hanwoo chadolbagi (beef brisket) in it. Of course it came with a bowl of rice too! It wasn't too salty, so it suited me perfectly — I really hate overly salty food.. The seasoning was just right to eat with rice, and I finished it all the way to the bottom.

Meat and garlic placed on the charcoal grill

Grilling the beef over charcoal

Once the charcoal heats up, they bring out the meat. They don't forget the garlic either. I can't pass up garlic fried in the oil.. 🫰

Hanwoo sirloin cooking on the grill

We started with the sirloin! The meat was fresh, so it wasn't chewy at all and went down easy.

A grilled piece of hanwoo sirloin

The bibim naengmyeon came out too, so we ate it together. Do you all eat your noodles separately from the meat? I'm firmly in the camp of ordering it right when we start grilling so we can eat them together. They also sell a dessert naengmyeon separately, which was a bit cheaper than the lunch-set version!

Moving the meat onto a plate before it burns — looking at this photo makes me want beef again.

Cooked meat being moved onto a plate

What do you think, does this look well-grilled? Hahaha. Dipping it in salt was the best, and after that we wrapped it in lettuce. Heard the pork belly is good too, so next time I'm going to focus on that.

Chuseok gift set notice at the counter

Is the beef better because it's a butcher shop?

With Chuseok (Korean harvest festival) coming up soon, there was a gift set notice at the counter. Since they run a butcher shop, the meat was definitely good. I'd recommend this as a lunch spot for office workers or residents near Bandalseom. The place is spacious, which made it really comfortable!
