Seoul Forest Station Western restaurant: Huirit's octopus romesco

In short

Huirit is a Western restaurant on Wangsimni-ro 2-gil in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Seoul Forest Station. The meal at Huirit covered rosé eggplant shrimp (₩23,000), ppolppo octopus romesco (₩23,000) and a pre-meal baguette, a lineup that satisfied precisely because it skips the usual Western staples, and the garden-and-tree entrance doubles as a photo spot. Huirit suits dates or pre-wedding gatherings that need a bit of atmosphere.

The garden and trees in the background had such a lovely mood I couldn't not take pictures 📸 If you visit, definitely take photos here! They come out really nicely haha.

There were more seats than I expected! If the weather's nice, eating outside would be great too, and I think Huirit would work well for a pre-wedding gathering!! (a 청모, or pre-wedding invitation meetup)

What to order at Huirit: the dishes worth photographing

Table set with Huirit's main dishes

The main dishes I'd been waiting for finally arrived, and the moment I saw them I let out a 'wow' without even meaning to!

Rosé eggplant shrimp (₩23,000)

Whole eggplant presentation of the rosé eggplant shrimp

Eggplant and shrimp topped with rosé sauce

The rosé eggplant shrimp completely wowed me the moment it landed on the table!! A whole eggplant sitting on top made it so pretty for photos too!!!!

Split the eggplant in half and inside you'll find it packed edge to edge with minced shrimp. The soft, moist texture of the eggplant paired with the springy bite of the shrimp was a perfect combo.

The rosé sauce underneath is rich and savory without being heavy, so piling it onto the eggplant and shrimp fills your mouth with flavor. Even people who don't usually like eggplant would probably enjoy this without any complaints 👍 If you visit, this is the signature dish I'd definitely recommend ordering!!!!!!!

Ppolppo, Huirit's octopus romesco (₩23,000)

Ppolppo with octopus and corn over romesco sauce

Ppolppo, whose name alone sparks curiosity, is apparently a distinctive dish based on a smoked house-made romesco sauce! On top of the savory romesco sauce with its faint smoky aroma sit golden-grilled octopus, corn kernels, and potato. The octopus wasn't chewy at all — it had a springy yet tender bite that made the texture really enjoyable!

On top of that, the pop of sweetness from the corn and the mellow potato blended with the sauce so well that I never got tired of it!!

The crisp, nutty pre-meal baguette

Pre-meal baguette drizzled with olive oil and parsley

The baguette comes out freshly baked and crispy, with a light drizzle of olive oil and parsley on top — dipping it in the rosé sauce brings your appetite right back! I want to eat it again ㅠㅠ!

Is Huirit worth a visit? Verdict and tips

Atmosphere: The vibe is so nice it's perfect for a date course, and also great for a cozy meal with friends.

Taste: Instead of the usual Western-food menu, everything felt like Huirit's own special dishes, which made it even more satisfying!

Tip: Save some of the pre-meal bread and dip it in the melanzane ragu sauce or the pasta cream sauce — it's a great combo!

Between the delicious food and the pretty space, it was a proper healing day :) I'd genuinely recommend this to anyone who wants delicious Western food in a special atmosphere!!!
