Two of us had shabu-shabu at Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch on a weekday evening. There was plenty to choose from, from beef and Vietnamese spring-roll ingredients to the salad bar. I was especially satisfied with the beef I picked because it was tender.

Was parking convenient, and was there a wait on a weekday evening?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 79 Gonghang-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, in the direction of Airport Bridge from Bokhyeon Five-way Intersection. There was ample parking in front of, behind, and beside the restaurant, making it convenient to visit by car. We arrived at around 5 PM on a weekday and went straight in without waiting.

The hours listed in the original post were 11 AM to 10 PM daily, with last orders at 8:50 PM.

Is there enough room for families or groups?

Once inside, the restaurant felt larger than I expected. It was neatly arranged in wood tones, and the tables were spaced comfortably apart.

The window-side area received plenty of sunlight, and the variety of seating looked suitable for a family meal or a meal with a larger group.

We chose katsuobushi (bonito flakes) broth and spicy broth. Along with vegetables, the salad bar had tofu, dumplings, fish cakes, and assorted mushrooms for the shabu-shabu.

Vegetables for Vietnamese spring rolls were set out separately, so it was easy to take as much as I wanted. There was a range of sauces, including chili, spicy sauce, sesame, and yuzu ponzu. There were also dotori-muk (acorn jelly), vinegared mixed dishes, bunmoja (wide glass noodles), rice noodles, and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles).

Was the all-you-can-eat beef tender?

Several plates of beef were prepared on one side, so I could choose the meat I wanted. Since the condition of the meat looked slightly different from plate to plate, I checked the marbling and grain before choosing. The beef I chose well was not tough and was tender when I cooked it briefly in the broth and ate it right away.

With meat, vegetables, and food from the salad bar on the table, it became a generous spread.

The pot was divided in half, so we could alternate between the two broths.

I added plenty of vegetables and brought the broth to a boil, then cooked the beef briefly. I liked the tender plate of beef enough to get more.

What food was available at the salad bar?

There were also foods to have with shabu-shabu, including dakgangjeong (sweet crispy chicken), salad, and fried rice. It was enjoyable to pick up other dishes throughout the meal.

Cream soup and takoyaki were available too.

There was even buckwheat soba, so there were many foods to choose from.

There were so many dishes I wanted that, after bringing back a little of this and that, I filled up on meat, vegetables, and salad-bar food.

How did I have dessert after the meal?

At the end, I filled a cup with soft-serve ice cream and poured in espresso from the coffee machine to make an affogato.

The sweet ice cream and bitter coffee went well together as a finish after the meat. It is a combination I would want to make again on another visit.

Disposable mouthwash, dental floss, and hair ties were also available to use after the meal. The restroom also felt comfortable and clean.
