Daegu river-view brunch café with cream pasta: Hands Coffee

In short

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large café near Dongchon Resort in Dong-gu, Daegu, with seating from the second through fourth floors. I had a Double Tray Hands Brunch Set A by the Geumho River, and the rich cream pasta and refreshing salad worked well together, though the baguette was a little hard.

Can you have brunch overlooking the river at Dongchon Resort?

I visited Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점), near Dongchon Resort in Dong-gu, Daegu. It sits on higher ground overlooking the Geumho River and is close to the walking trail. The red-brick exterior and wood-toned antique interior came together nicely, and the café occupied the second through fourth floors.

Where do you order, and how much was brunch?

The ordering area was on the second floor. I arrived around 1:30 PM, and that floor was full of guests. There was a warm, wood-toned lounge, and I could order either at a kiosk or in person.

I ordered Double Tray Hands Brunch Set A and chose paccheri cream pasta and chicken granola salad. I noted the set price as ₩27,300 at the time, with a notice that choosing the paccheri cream pasta cost an additional ₩1,000. My notes do not make clear whether that extra charge was included in the ₩27,300.

I noted that coffee was ₩5,000 per cup. The café offered a ₩300 discount for using a tumbler with an iced coffee, so I used my own tumbler.

Which floor has Geumho River views and family seating?

The third floor felt the most open, with the Geumho River visible through its floor-to-ceiling windows. There were sofa seats and bar tables that looked good for working on a laptop alone or taking a break. It seemed fairly quiet at first, but soon filled with guests.

On the fourth floor, there was a floor-seating area where visitors remove their shoes, which looked suitable for families with children. There was also a rooftop, where the river breeze would be pleasant in good weather. In summer, though, I wanted to rest indoors with air conditioning.

How did the paccheri cream pasta and salad taste?

After looking around each floor, I went back down to the third floor. A window seat had just opened up, so I sat there and ate Double Tray Hands Brunch Set A.

I chose the paccheri because I was curious about the pasta shape. Its wide tubes had a memorable chew, and the thick, rich cream sauce had soaked all the way inside. As someone who likes cream pasta, I found it well suited to my taste.

The chicken granola salad was topped with chicken and nutty, crisp granola. Its fresh vegetables and tangy dressing refreshed my palate between bites of the rich pasta. The chicken was good too, but the baguette served with it was a little hard.

The coffee in my tumbler had a clean, nutty flavor. Drinking it after the cream pasta cleared away the lingering richness, so it paired well with brunch.

Is there parking and an elevator, and how late is it open?

There was a large dedicated parking lot in front of the building. I heard that it can become busy during weekend peak hours because it overlaps with dining times at the first-floor restaurant. There was also an elevator, which seemed helpful for moving between floors with a stroller or with parents.

The hours I noted at the time of my visit were 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, open year-round. With options ranging from river-view seats to floor seating, it felt like a pleasant place to stay for brunch with family or a partner.
