Jeongjacheon-ro shabu-shabu with free corkage in Suwon: Sodamchon

Hi everyone~ it's Kongda :) As the weather gets a bit chillier, I keep craving warm soupy dishes haha. This time I visited Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, a shabu-shabu spot in Suwon where you can load up on veggies and enjoy spring rolls too!

The store is really spacious and clean, so it seemed great for family meals or gatherings. The self-serve bar was well organized, and there's a kids' play room plus a free café space you can use after eating — overall a very comfortable meal.

Where is Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, and what about parking and corkage?

Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch is on the 4th floor of Gyeongseong Building, 171 Jeongjacheon-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's on the 4th floor of the building with A Twosome Place, across from the Hyundai Oilbank — not hard to find!

Parking isn't in the restaurant's own building — you use the 3rd-4th floors of Seonil Parking Building, across from Lotteria. You get 90 minutes of parking support with store use!

It's about a 4-5 minute walk from the parking lot to the restaurant, so if you're with company, it might be easier to drop them off in front first and go park haha. Usually 1-2 cars per table are supported, but that can vary depending on how many are visiting, so if you have a lot of cars, it's best to ask ahead.

On weekday evenings, if you reserve ahead, you can get 1 free corkage bottle per table for parties of 4 — worth checking when you book~

Inside Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch and the kids' play room

Walking in, the store was way bigger and cleaner than I expected! Lots of tables and a spacious layout — totally great for family meals or gatherings with a group.

Shabu-shabu places tend to have a lot of dishes and tables can get cluttered quickly, but this place felt well-organized overall, so it was comfortable to eat here.

There's also a separate play room where kids can play. When you eat out with kids, there's a lot to keep an eye on during the meal, but with a play room available, it seemed like a great spot for family visits haha. Good for bringing your parents along or having a family gathering too!

Self-serve bar and the free café space after your meal

One thing I really liked about Sodamchon was how neatly organized the self-serve bar was! From vegetables to add to the shabu-shabu to spring roll ingredients, you could grab as much as you needed — very convenient.

The self-serve bar was kept clean too, which made it easy to use! And after finishing your meal, you can use the free café space once you've paid. Coffee, drinks, even ice cream are all free, so you can handle dessert in the same spot~

You don't need to move to a café right after eating — you can have coffee and chat right there, which seemed especially good for family gatherings or friends hanging out. Being able to enjoy shabu-shabu plus a dessert café in one spot was a bigger perk than I expected haha.

Sodamchon menu and prices

Sodamchon has quite a variety of menus, from basic spring roll shabu to mushroom, minari (water celery), wagyu, hanwoo (Korean beef), and seafood shabu. The signature ones are spring roll shabu at ₩18,900 and mushroom spring roll shabu at ₩23,900, and there's also spicy minari shabu, wagyu shabu, hanwoo shabu, and seafood shabu!

For lunch, there's also a lighter lunch special shabu set, so it seems like a good spot to visit for lunch too. What I ordered was the mushroom spring roll shabu for ₩23,900! It comes with spring rolls & shabu + 120g of shabu meat + 5 kinds of mushrooms. The mushrooms were cordyceps, king trumpet, lion's mane, beech, and golden enoki mushrooms!

What I ordered was the mushroom spring roll shabu-shabu! It comes with spring rolls & shabu + 120g of shabu meat + 5 kinds of mushrooms.

The mushrooms came in a variety — cordyceps, king trumpet, lion's mane, beech, and golden enoki. Once it was all laid out, it was way more generous than I expected~~

From meat to vegetables, mushrooms, and spring roll ingredients, there was such a variety it just looked healthy! I especially loved the heaping serving of 5 kinds of mushrooms, since I'm a mushroom lover.

Each mushroom had a slightly different texture, so it was fun cooking them one by one in the broth, and as I added plenty of vegetables and mushrooms to simmer, the broth got deeper and more refreshing.

The thinly sliced shabu meat became soft and mild once briefly cooked in the broth, great to eat together with the vegetables. And wrapping meat + mushrooms + a big pile of vegetables in rice paper and dipping it in sauce was absolutely delicious~

Eating it as spring rolls meant I could eat tons of vegetables without feeling heavy, plus the crunchy texture was a nice bonus.

After finishing, you can also grab kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) from the self-serve bar to add, but we were too full so we just made porridge*_*

Is Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch a good group spot in Suwon?

Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, visited for shabu-shabu in Suwon! With a great variety of mushrooms and a hearty amount of meat and vegetables, it was a satisfying, clean meal. I especially liked the spacious, clean interior plus the well-run self-serve bar, and with the kids' play room, it looked like a solid pick for a family meal or gathering spot!

After the meal, there's also a café space with free coffee, drinks, and even ice cream, so you can handle dessert all in one place haha. If you're looking for a family gathering spot or a clean shabu-shabu restaurant in Suwon, I recommend Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch♡
