Daeyeon-dong Korean BBQ with cheddar fried rice: Wanbeoljip, Busan
In short
Wanbeoljip Kyungsung University Branch is a second-floor Korean BBQ restaurant in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, 225m from Exit 1 of Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station. On a Busan trip with a child, the writer parked at a nearby paid lot and ordered the Wanbeol Platter at 37,500 won with doenjang risotto, self-fried rice with extra cheddar, a free kids' cheese curry rice and ice cream for dessert. Since the pork arrives fully grilled, no one has to stand over the grill, which makes Wanbeoljip an easy choice for eating with kids.

It's just 225m from Exit 1 of Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station on Line 2, so it's easy to reach by public transit too.
True to a hot spot near Kyungsung University station, there's no restaurant parking lot. There's a Pyeonghwa private parking lot one block from the restaurant (paid). Since my family was traveling by car, we parked at a paid lot before visiting — we used "Ilhwa Parking" (₩1,500 for 30 minutes, then ₩500 per 10 minutes).
Outside the building
It's on the second floor, so we climbed some stairs. Visit Monday–Thursday between 5 and 6pm and you get a free shot of Hwayo 25 — that's an expensive liquor, and Wanbeoljip Kyungsung University Branch gives it away generously!
Inside the second-floor dining room
Separate men's and women's restrooms made things convenient, and they had a baby chair ready too. The atmosphere was warm with wood tones.

What we ordered at Wanbeoljip and what it cost
After debating what to order, we went with the half-and-half platter so we could try a variety of cuts. There were plenty of side dishes to pair with it too.

Wanbeoljip Kyungsung University Branch grills everything to the perfect time and temperature.

Water was served cold and fresh too — I thought, this is a place that cares about cleanliness.
The side dishes at Wanbeoljip
Don't the basic side dishes look really well put together? Shiitake wasabi, ssamjang (dipping paste), wasabi, and myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves) — all neat and tidy.
Doenjang risotto, 8,000 won: a grown-up flavour

We ordered the doenjang risotto (soybean paste risotto) as a meal alongside the platter. It's a specialty dish made with a doenjang jjigae base, rice, and low-sodium butter, simmered until thick and rich.

That thick, creamy texture was great — the butter gave it an extra savory feel. Our kindergartner wanted some too, but it had chili in it and was a bit spicy. This one's better suited for adults. They also have a steamed egg dish, and the kids' menu cheese curry rice is complimentary! No worries bringing little kids here.
Mixing in the basil pesto that came with it was a real treat — its fragrant, fresh notes lifted the flavor of the doenjang risotto. It might not be for everyone, so try mixing in just a little at first.
Free kids' cheese curry rice

The curry sauce has no spice and no vegetables, so it's just right for kids. Our kid cleaned the plate. The portion was about a bowl of rice's worth, so it was generous. Free kids' menu — amazing!
Wanbeol Platter, 37,500 won: pork that arrives fully grilled
At Wanbeoljip, the meat isn't just partially seared — it comes fully cooked, so you just turn on the induction burner and enjoy it warm. No awkward standoff over who has to grill, which makes it great for looking after kids, chatting, or dating. My boyfriend (husband) didn't have to grill anything either!

The pork skin was mild in flavor but had just the right amount of spice for me — I can't handle much heat. As the photo shows, it was nicely crispy and savory. It's also delicious dipped in the soybean powder on the table!

The pork belly, fully cooked, came out thick with juices bursting out. Great wrapped in a tortilla, too.

You can also order ssam vegetables (wrap lettuce) from the tablet and wrap it up — so good!

The gosari namul (fernbrake) and mukeunji (aged kimchi) were generous too — great paired with the pork belly!
Self-fried rice, 3,000 won, with cheddar added

We also ordered the self-fried rice alongside the platter — added seaweed flakes, sauce, sesame oil, and sliced cheese too. It's nice that you can customize it to your taste!

Chop up the pork belly, chives, aged kimchi, and fernbrake to your liking, add the sauce and oil, shake it all together, and pile on the seaweed flakes! We were already pretty full, but my kid and I scraped the pan clean together. This is the K-dessert fried rice that finds room even when you're stuffed.
Ice cream to finish

I saw "ice cream dessert" listed on the tablet, so I ordered it. They gave us one scoop each, and even though we were full, we polished off the slightly tangy yogurt ice cream. Wanbeoljip Kyungsung University Branch really doesn't hold back!
Is Wanbeoljip worth it with a child?
A great restaurant in Daeyeon-dong where the meat comes fully cooked, so you can eat comfortably without any grilling hassle — good for families with kids, group gatherings, or dates (note it's on the 2nd floor). The kids' curry menu is free with a generous portion, so our kid ate well too. Good enough to scrape the bowl clean! A pork belly restaurant near Kyungsung University I'd love to visit again.
