Gangnam Korean restaurant for an after-work fusion dinner: Moa Gangnam

In short

Moa Gangnam is a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station in Seoul, serving familiar Korean ingredients in unexpected dishes. After work, I tried abalone mushroom butter sotbap, perilla oil jeotgal pasta, and green apple ade after the break time. Verdict: a great place to share a hearty rice dish and an unusual pasta.

Korean meal spread at Moa Gangnam

Looking for a different kind of Korean meal near Gangnam Station?

Today, I want to introduce a place near Gangnam Station where you can enjoy Korean dishes in a slightly different way 🥰 This time, I visited Moa Gangnam, which is easy to get to from Gangnam Station and has plenty of hearty options for a meal haha.

Moa Gangnam is on the first floor of Geumseong Building, 31 Teheran-ro 5-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, about 334 m from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station. It is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:00 and last orders at 21:00. There is no on-site parking, so use a nearby parking lot!

Since Moa Gangnam is on the first floor of Geumseong Building, it was not difficult to find. It is also a nice option when you are looking for somewhere to eat around Gangnam Station :)

Outdoor waiting seats in front of Moa Gangnam

There were outdoor waiting seats in front of the restaurant, too. Even the waiting area was decorated beautifully, so it had a lovely atmosphere haha. It felt too pretty to just walk past, so I took a photo as well :)

Wood-toned interior of Moa Gangnam

A relaxed interior after break time

We came right after work, timed for the end of break time :) Thankfully, there were plenty of open seats, so we could eat comfortably. The interior felt both antique and polished. Its calm, wood-toned feel made the meal even nicer, and I thought it was a great place for a relaxed meal near Gangnam Station :)

Cups and cutlery were neatly set on the table. Like the overall restaurant atmosphere, the table setting felt stylish. Even the napkins were clean and thoughtfully arranged, which caught my eye before we had even started eating 😆

Once seated, we could order easily using the tablet at the table. We took our time looking over the menu, then chose what we wanted :)

The basic side dishes were jangajji (pickled vegetables) and pickled radish. They arrived neatly presented, making them nice to sample one by one while we waited for the food, and everything felt simple yet tidy :)

  • Abalone mushroom butter sotbap (rice cooked in an individual earthenware pot)
  • Perilla oil jeotgal pasta (pasta with salted seafood)
  • Green apple ade

Personally, this was a dish I would come back to eat again 👍🏻 I could see why it is popular, haha. First, the abalone mushroom butter sotbap sounded hearty from the name alone :) With abalone and mushrooms together, it worked really well as a full meal. Since it was sotbap, it also gave that satisfying feeling of properly eating rice!

And the slightly more unusual dish we ordered was the perilla oil jeotgal pasta!

Perilla oil jeotgal pasta

It was fun that perilla oil and jeotgal, ingredients from Korean cooking, could be enjoyed with pasta :) It is a different combination from the pasta we usually eat, so I think it would be a good option for anyone looking for something a little unusual.

For drinks, we ordered the green apple ade :) It was refreshing and completely my kind of drink, so I really enjoyed it. It was especially nice alongside the meal because of its bright, refreshing flavor!

After trying the abalone mushroom butter sotbap and perilla oil jeotgal pasta at Moa Gangnam, I liked being able to enjoy familiar Korean ingredients in a slightly different way 👏🏻 Its location close to Gangnam Station was another advantage! 👍🏻

Moa Gangnam stayed with me as a good place to visit when you want Korean dishes that are a little different from the usual around Gangnam Station 🥰 I also recommend ordering and sharing both a hearty dish like the abalone mushroom butter sotbap and something unusual like the perilla oil jeotgal pasta.
