Songpa Japanese restaurant with eel hot pot rice: Gomemui Garden Five

I stopped by Gardenfive the other day after work to do some shopping, and ended up having a really filling meal too 🥰 They sell a wide range of Japanese-style dishes, from hot pot rice to udon to tonkatsu, so there was plenty to choose from. After some deliberation, I went with the eel hot pot rice and mazesoba udon 😍

Where is Gomemui Hyundai Garden Five, and where do you park?

Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive is on the basement 1st floor of Gardenfive, 66 Chungmin-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It's about 100m — a 1-minute walk — from Exit 4 of Jangji Station on Line 8.

Hours may vary, so I'd recommend checking with the restaurant before visiting 🙏🏻

Parking available on-site ⭕️ First 30 minutes free. You can use the basement parking lot at Hyundai City Mall Gardenfive! With a receipt, up to 4 hours free.

The restaurant is on the basement 1st floor of Gardenfive, so it wasn't hard to find while browsing the mall. There's a menu posted outside so you can get a quick look before going in!

Inside Gomemui: the room and tablet ordering

The inside of Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive was clean and comfortable overall. The tables weren't cramped together, so it felt fine whether you're eating solo or with friends or family :) It also felt like an easy stop for a meal while shopping at Gardenfive.

Ordering was simple — done through a tablet set up at each table haha

With the hot pot rice, some simple basic side dishes came out too, good for eating alongside the rice 🥰 It was a clean, simple pairing that went really well with the hot pot rice.

Eel hot pot rice at Gomemui: eating-order card to nurungji finish

✔️ Eel hot pot rice & mazesoba udon

First, the eel hot pot rice! I was really craving eel that day haha. There was a generous amount of eel piled on top of the hot pot rice, so it was filling enough on its own for a full meal 👍🏻

There was a small card explaining how to best enjoy the eel hot pot rice. It walked you through the eating order step by step, and I thought that kind of thoughtful touch was a nice detail :)

Dipping it in the eel sauce made it even tastier :) The eel was much more tender than I expected, and even the tail part was delicious haha

After finishing the hot pot rice, I poured in hot water to finish it off as nurungji (crispy scorched rice) — nutty and warm, a great way to enjoy it right to the last bite 🥰

What does the maze udon taste like?

Next up, the mazesoba udon! I popped the egg yolk on top with my chopsticks and mixed it all together, which added a nutty, rich flavor that made it even better :)

The noodles were chewy and springy, and paired really well with the sauce — the more I ate, the more savory it got, so I really enjoyed it 👍🏻 I personally love mazesoba, so everything here was delicious to me :) Next time I'd love to try their other soba dishes too 😆

Shopping and dinner in one trip to Garden Five

Gomemui was a great spot for handling both shopping and a meal in one stop at Gardenfive. Both the eel hot pot rice and the mazesoba udon were delicious, and it made for a satisfying, filling meal. The clean atmosphere also made it a comfortable spot to visit with family or friends 👍🏻

With everything from eel hot pot rice to mazesoba udon on the menu, there was plenty of variety to choose from depending on your taste, and the overall clean atmosphere made for a relaxed meal 🫶🏻 Being close to Jangji Station also made it convenient to get to by public transit, and being inside Gardenfive meant I could handle shopping and eating in one trip 🥰 If you're looking for Japanese-style hot pot rice or udon for a hearty meal at Gardenfive, this is a good place to check out ❤️
