Goyang Chinese restaurant: jjamppong with hand-torn sujebi noodles

In short

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) specialty Chinese restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. Visiting at 3pm to skip the lunch rush, the writer and their partner ordered the signature Jijeon jjamppong with a hand-torn sujebi noodle add-on, glutinous rice tangsuyuk and the new jjamppong fried mandu (4 pieces). With a clean broth made from Korean-grown red pepper powder, a large parking lot and a self-serve bar, Jjamppong Jijeon is worth a return trip whenever a jjamppong craving hits.

Today I went with my other half to a jjamppong spot at around 3pm, deliberately dodging the lunch rush. Most jjamppong places get slammed at lunch, but I wanted to eat at my own pace, so we went after the lunch crowd thinned out 😊 At 3pm we could take our time and really enjoy the meal.

The jjamppong spot we visited today is located on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi—

Is parking easy at Jjamppong Jijeon?

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch has a clean, sizeable exterior that's easy to spot. There's especially generous parking space right in front and along the side of the building, so I didn't have to worry about parking at all when I arrived 🚗

Side parking lot and sign next to the restaurant

The 'Jjamppong Jijeon' sign is big enough to spot from the road, so even first-time visitors won't have trouble finding the place. At the entrance I also noticed some certification and award notices 👀 There was an Angel Sharing certification mark, which gave me a warm, 'this is a good-hearted business' feeling even before stepping inside, and a notice showing it won an excellence award in the Chinese restaurant category for Deogyang-gu, Goyang in the 2024 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation's dining sector. When a restaurant has these kinds of records or certifications on display, I find myself trusting it a little more and paying closer attention.

And right at the entrance, I could see

  • 🎖️ 10% off tables when soldiers visit
  • 📦 10% off takeout orders

two discount banners like these, and the one for soldiers who protect our country warmed my heart a bit :)

There was also a menu board at the entrance, so I could check out what was on offer before even stepping inside.

Self-serve bar and after-meal drinks: is Jjamppong Jijeon good with kids?

The self-serve bar is the first thing you see once you step inside. 🥢 It was kept nice and clean. Along with the basic side dishes—pickled radish and zha cai—there were tongs and scissors ready for the meal. There were even baby plates, so families with kids can use it comfortably 🥰 Sometimes after finishing jjamppong or jjajangmyeon you crave some rice, and free rice refills were available right there at the self-serve bar too 🍚

Around the self-serve bar there were also disposable aprons and a baby chair. Eating jjamppong can mean broth splashing onto your clothes, so having disposable aprons on hand takes away that worry, and with a baby chair too, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch looked like a convenient place to bring kids. There was also a dessert corner set up neatly beside the entrance ☕️ with coffee, plum tea, iced tea, and lemonade ready to enjoy after the meal. From free rice to basic side dishes, tableware, baby chairs and aprons, to dessert—everything was clean and thoughtfully prepared, and it left an impression of real attention to the little things for guests 🤭

Seating and tableside kiosk ordering at Jjamppong Jijeon

The restaurant has regular tables as well as separate long seating for groups of 5 or more. With baby chairs, group seating, a self-serve bar, and a dessert corner all in place, it felt like a convenient spot for family outings or larger groups. Each table also has its own ordering kiosk, so I could order comfortably from my seat while looking at menu photos. Being able to browse and choose without calling a staff member over was really convenient 😀

Each table had the basic condiments—vinegar, red pepper powder, soy sauce—neatly set out. One thing I especially liked was that the pickled radish came in individual disposable packaging. It felt much more hygienic and clean than a shared communal portion, and being sealed made it look fresher. It's a small detail, but seeing that kind of attention to hygiene put me in a great mood even before the meal started.

Three dishes we ordered for two at Jjamppong Jijeon

Today my other half and I ordered three dishes: Jijeon jjamppong with an added hand-torn dough topping, glutinous rice tangsuyuk, and jjamppong fried mandu (4pc). We tried to cover the range—from Jjamppong Jijeon's signature dish to the glutinous rice tangsuyuk and the new jjamppong fried mandu.

Jijeon jjamppong with hand-torn sujebi noodles added

🍜 Jijeon jjamppong, the signature dish at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch. They say it's made with 100% domestic red pepper powder, and right from the first spoonful the broth felt heavy yet rich and clean. It wasn't murky at all—just a clean, deep flavor that kept me reaching for another spoonful. I also liked that you can adjust the spice level to your own taste. Since we're pretty weak with spice, we went with the basic level. It was loaded with seafood and vegetables, and having shell-free seafood made it easy to eat. Adding the chewy hand-torn dough to the rich broth gave a different kind of appeal from the noodles.

Glutinous rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)

🥩 Tangsuyuk made with glutinous rice batter, which gives it that distinctive chewy texture. Crispy on the outside, and with that first bite you feel the chewy glutinous rice coating—a different charm from regular tangsuyuk. The meat had no gamey smell at all, felt fresh, and the pieces were nice and big, giving it a really satisfying texture.

New menu item: jjamppong fried mandu (dumplings)

🥟 The new jjamppong fried mandu. The outside was golden and wonderfully crispy, and with one bite you get that jjamppong-style spicy, subtly smoky wok-hei flavor. The more you chew, the more the spiciness, savoriness, and that smoky char flavor from jjamppong spread through your mouth—a completely different level of appeal from regular fried mandu. Eating it alongside the jjamppong made it even better.

Is Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch worth a visit?

My other half and I had such a satisfying meal today at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, trying everything from the signature Jijeon jjamppong to the glutinous rice tangsuyuk and the new jjamppong fried mandu—true to the restaurant's name. The kitchen is open, so I could naturally watch the cooking process while waiting for food, and it was great to see the kitchen kept clean overall :) I noticed staff wiping down and tidying around the fryer between tasks, which gave me the sense that hygiene and cleanliness were being carefully managed.

Beyond the spacious parking lot that can fit 30+ cars, the self-serve bar, free rice, baby chairs and disposable aprons, and the dessert corner all showed careful attention to guests' convenience. As a proper jjamppong specialty restaurant, we really got to taste rich, deep jjamppong made clean with domestic red pepper powder, loaded with generous ingredients. It's a genuinely delicious spot I'd love to return to whenever I'm craving jjamppong.
