Underground D24 parking, CatchTable waiting at Gyuen-dang, Gwanggyo

In short

Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese-style breaded beef cutlet) restaurant in the basement of Avenue France, a 4-minute walk from Gwanggyo Jungang Station in Suwon. Parking in the D24 zone of the underground lot and registering a wait on CatchTable made the visit smooth, and the tenderloin gyukatsu (₩24,000) and sirloin gyukatsu (₩19,000) grilled on mini charcoal braziers were the highlight. Sort out parking and waiting ahead of time and this is an easy spot for anyone from families with babies to solo diners.

I was looking for a Japanese restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station and found this place, which turns out to be famous as a gyukatsu spot near Ajou University too 'ᴗ' 🤎 If it were closer I think I'd go every time I got a craving for gyukatsu. I visited ❛ Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch ❜.

Looking at other reviews of this Suwon Gwanggyo spot, the wait during mealtimes can apparently get pretty long .ᐟ

Gyuen-dang's menu

The main menu item is gyukatsu ◡̎ — tenderloin and sirloin gyukatsu, plus rice bowls like the steak bowl and tsukune (chicken meatball) bowl. There are also à la carte items like potato curry, atsuatsu (piping hot) udon, brie cheese omurice, and hamburg omurice, along with highballs and beer 🍻 ˚₊‧

They're also running an event where leaving a Naver review gets you a free mini okonomiyaki (2 pieces) — worth noting!

Tenderloin gyukatsu (₩24,000) with basic side dishes

Tenderloin gyukatsu, ₩24,000. The basic side dishes that come with any gyukatsu order include a salad that cuts through the richness nicely, miso soup, spicy pickled radish, wasabi and sauce, and Isigny butter 🤎

Just visually, it couldn't not taste good 🥹 crisp outside, tender inside .. such a thin coating 💯

I think the biggest perk is that you get your own mini charcoal brazier and can cook it exactly how you like ◖₍ᐢ. ̫.ᐢ₎◗˞͛♪ Grilling little pieces at a time while chatting made it feel like a great date-course spot in Gwanggyo, Suwon too.

Sirloin gyukatsu, ₩19,000

The sirloin gyukatsu at ₩19,000 came with the same basic sides as the tenderloin ✨

Just follow the gyukatsu-eating instructions sitting on the table 🕊️

Melting the butter first and then grilling the gyukatsu in it made it so much richer and more tender 💯

My husband asked if gyukatsu was always this good .. 🥹🤎 and said he finally understood why I kept singing the praises of gyukatsu and asking to go eat it 𓂃˖

Tenderloin or sirloin — which to order

Of all the gyukatsu I've had, Gyuen-dang's tenderloin gyukatsu was the best ✨ If you're visiting with a baby, I'd recommend ordering the tenderloin! The sirloin has a bit more chew to it, while the tenderloin is so soft that babies would probably eat it well too 👶

A piece of gyukatsu topped with wasabi

You don't even need another sauce — just a bit of wasabi on top was already delicious!
