The tables felt fairly spread out, which made it comfortable to eat, and it didn't feel like too heavy a space even for the sort of hearty menu burgers usually are. It seemed like a place that would work for solo diners, friend gatherings, couple dates, and family meals with kids alike.

Self-serve bar in one corner of the store

Self-serve potato chip bar for dine-in guests

This is the self-serve bar tucked into one corner of the store. There's James gam (potato chips) prepared for dine-in guests. You just serve yourself, and they stayed crispy even after some time had passed, so it was tasty and had good texture — one of the fun little touches of the place.

If you sprinkle on the pepper set out at the self-serve bar, it's even more fragrant and delicious!

Chilli mozzarella cheese bar: how was it as a side?

The first thing to come out was the chilli mozzarella cheese bar.

Chewy stretchy mozzarella cheese bar

The crispy fried cheese bar was topped with chilli sauce, so from the first bite you got both savoriness and a spicy-sweet kick together. The mozzarella cheese stretched chewily, and the chilli sauce cut through what could easily have been a greasy taste, so as a side dish it was really satisfying. It's a light bite while you wait for your burger, but the flavor was anything but light.

How did the Base Chicken Burger set taste?

Next up was the chicken burger set. For a chicken burger, the crispy texture of the chicken patty matters most, and on the first bite it was crispy outside and juicy inside.

The fresh vegetables, sauce, and bun all came together for great overall balance. I thought it was a menu you could enjoy heartily even on a day when a beef burger feels a bit heavy. Since it comes as a set with fries and a drink, it's satisfying for lunch too — I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a light but delicious restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station.

Double Base Burger set: two beef patties compared

The menu I was most looking forward to was the double burger set. True to its name, it has two beef patties, so from the first bite you get a rich meaty aroma.

Double Base Burger with two beef patties

The thick patties stacked on top of each other gave it real volume, and the cheese and sauce brought out the patties' flavor even more. It's a classic, no-frills handmade burger style where the meat takes center stage, so if you care about the presence of the patty when eating a burger, this one will especially satisfy you. The bun wrapped the fillings softly and the vegetables added a crisp texture, so it didn't get tiring even to the last bite.

Best combo to order for two people at Base Burger Gwanggyo

Personally, I liked the combo of whetting my appetite with the chilli mozzarella cheese bar and then finishing off heartily with the double burger. Ordering a chicken burger and a beef burger together lets you compare their different charms, so I'd recommend this as a menu for a two-person visit.
