Hot pot restaurant in Magok, Seoul: 4 personal broths at J's Pot
In short
J's Pot Magok Branch is a hot pot restaurant on basement floor 2 of Coex Magok Tower A in Gangseo, Seoul, where every diner picks their own personal broth. Four coworkers went after work on a weekday and ordered the signature hot pot set with two tomato broths, one spicy red broth and one katsuo (bonito) broth, then added mixed fish balls and orange chicken. For a group dinner where everyone wants a different soup base, J's Pot Magok Branch was a good fit.

Today I'm writing up my visit to a hot pot spot near Magok Naru that I went to after work on a weekday last week!
There were going to be four of us, and we all wanted hot pot but each wanted a different broth (lol), so I went looking for a place where everyone could pick their own broth — and found exactly that at J's Pot inside Coex Magok!
It's inside the Coex building so weather isn't an issue, and parking is easy too, so it's super accessible :-)

Where is J's Pot Magok Branch inside Coex Magok?
J's Pot Magok is located at the far end of basement 2 in Tower A of Coex Magok. If you walk past all the restaurants along that floor, you'll find it right at the very end!

We went in the evening, but if you work near Coex Magok, the lunch hot pot set looks like a totally solid option too.

Menu and seating at J's Pot Magok — does it work for a big group?
Here's the full J's Pot menu! We all went with the signature hot pot set, but there are also solo hot pot dishes, so if someone in your group can't do hot pot, they could order the kalguksu (noodle soup) or bulgogi instead — makes it a great spot for a bigger group gathering too!

Seating ranges from solo seats to large group tables, and the space itself is really spacious, so there's a lot of room between tables — enough that even if the table next to you was having a work dinner, it wouldn't feel loud. Haha.

The menu is what's shown in the photos above, and you order from the table! There are also tons of highball options, so no worries about drink preferences either haha.

The tables themselves are really wide, and they're divided by acrylic panels, so if a bigger group than four came in, they could flexibly expand the tables. Even with just the four of us, we had a ton of room to eat!

Mixing your own dipping sauce at the sauce bar
We made our own sauces! The sauce station has every ingredient you could want, so you can mix up anything to your taste!!

What comes in the signature hot pot set, and is it enough for 4?
This is the basic composition you get with the signature hot pot set if you choose tomato broth! (It's shown in full on the table-order screen.) The vegetables were packed in generously and there were plenty of fish balls, but we ended up adding more later! It was nice being able to taste it before adding extra, haha. Honestly the meat portion was a bit much for me, so I kept donating mine endlessly to my boyfriend next to me ^^ I was worried since it's not all-you-can-eat, but... the portion really wasn't lacking at all. Nice.

The vegetables were a solid mix — fried tofu, mushrooms, bean sprouts and more. And the color on that meat... amazing right? Total win.

Four personal broths: tomato, spicy red and katsuo
Out of the four of us, two went with tomato broth, and the other two split between red broth and katsuo (bonito) broth since one friend had a stomachache that day. It was such a relief that among the non-spicy options there were still choices like beef broth and katsuo broth — when everyone's tastes are different, having this many broth options at one restaurant is really great :-)

Once the broth starts boiling away like this, you just cook everything and dig in! I like to put the vegetables in first, and once they wilt down, add the meat so I get a big bite of wilted veggies and meat together (^^;) haha.

So mouthwatering, right ~,~,~,😉

Adding the mixed fish balls — the shrimp one was our favourite
Partway through we added the mixed fish balls, which came with meat, flying fish roe, and shrimp versions, and our top pick was the shrimp! I could see some people really loving the flying fish roe depending on taste, but the shrimp ones just felt so packed and satisfying...!

That first bite was so good,,,, I've never had tomato broth taste this good before,,,,

Our sauce was a total success today too 👍 seriously delicious ㅜㅜㅜㅜ ❤

We ordered cola and they gave us ice with it (I'm the type who gets touched by small things like this). Haha.

We also tried the orange chicken — tasted exactly like what you'd expect! It was good haha.
If you're trying to figure out a place for a work dinner near Magok Naru, or looking for a great hot pot spot, I'd recommend J's Pot at Coex!!!
