It really feels like fall these days. On my day off, I took a drive to On the Rail in Paju to get some work done, too. I recommend it to anyone looking for an outdoor terrace café in Paju to enjoy the autumn weather, or a late-night café in Paju that stays open late ♥

On the Rail next to Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park

On the Rail is a Paju café that many people visit as a Munsan or Imjingak café. It is right next to Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park and Pyeonghwa Nuri Camping Site, so it is an easy place to stop by, too.

A Paju late-night café open until 2 AM

I think the biggest feature of On the Rail in Paju has to be its hours. This café is open late, all the way until 2 AM! Couples, if you cannot find a café to stop at after a late-night date, head over here. When I wanted to use my laptop late in Paju, I used to go to Heyri Art Village, but this café is only another 10 minutes away and stays open this late—I'll definitely be coming back often.

A spacious parking lot with free parking

Next, let’s check out parking at On the Rail in Paju. There is a large parking lot right in front of the café. In addition to the lot shown in the photo, there is a separate second parking lot as well. No parking worries at On the Rail—and parking is free.

Garden and terrace outdoor seating

Before going into the café, I looked around the outdoor area first. There were so many outdoor seats all around the café building. In weather like this, drinking coffee outside is one of life’s little joys, right?

There are lots of tables tucked throughout the garden, and if grass is not your thing, there are terrace seats behind the building, too.

Everything around it is wide open, so the view feels incredibly refreshing. Add the cool fall weather, and it is pure bliss.

There are cute little details like this tucked all around, too. Since On the Rail is beside a railway, they even posted the train passing times. Kids would probably love it! For reference, On the Rail also has high chairs for little ones.

A bright, quiet café interior

Next, let’s take a look inside On the Rail, an Imjingak café in Paju.

The ceiling is high and there are lots of windows on three sides, so it felt wonderfully open. The white palette made it look even more spacious and pleasant.

Isn’t the natural light beautiful in every corner? The lighting and interior were totally my taste, too.

It is a popular café, so there were some people there even on a weekday afternoon. Still, it was not crowded or noisy, and plenty of people were working on laptops or reading alone.

Photo spot at On the Rail café

There are also little photo spots like this here and there. On the Rail has lots of hidden photo spots—finding the full-length mirror zone and outdoor photo areas is one of the café’s fun little highlights.

Coffee and bakery menu

Next, let’s look at the menu. I have included On the Rail’s menu board.

There is a good variety of bakery items, too. After purchasing them, you can warm them up yourself in the microwave. There is also a self-service bar inside.

Since I planned to work for a long time, I ordered an iced Americano and two pieces of bread.

Cross-section of mugwort red bean salt bread

I was curious about the mugwort red bean salt bread, so I ordered it—this is what the inside looked like. It felt more like a nutty mugwort-and-red-bean bread than a classic salt bread. I recommend it as a pairing with an iced Americano!

Terrace by day, late-night work by night

Today, I looked around On the Rail, an Imjingak café in Munsan, Paju. By day, you can enjoy all the benefits of an outdoor terrace café, and at night, all the benefits of a café open late until 2 AM.

On a lovely-weather day like this, it was absolutely perfect for taking a drive and getting some fresh air. If you come over after Heyri, the drive even has a bit of a Jeju Island feel, so I wholeheartedly recommend it if you are looking for a café around Paju.
