Daebudo Korean restaurant with self-serve fried rice: Haemokjeong

In short

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is a Korean restaurant on Sangdong-ro in Daebudo, Ansan, Gyeonggi. The writer shared the Haemokjeong B Set (spicy braised pork ribs, mushroom kalguksu, fried squid) for 45,000 won with nephews and nieces, adding a handmade king pork cutlet for 13,000 won and self-serve fried rice for 3,000 won, and refilled the jellyfish salad banchan three times at the self-bar. The braised rib sauce is rich enough to be worth finishing as fried rice, making Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch a reliable family meal in Daebudo.

Signature Korean table spread at Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch

An honest review of "Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch," a Korean restaurant in Daebudo, Ansan

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch: a Korean restaurant deep inside Daebudo

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is a Korean restaurant located at 97 Sangdong-ro, 1F, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do. I came a bit further into the inner part of Daebudo to find this place.

The weather was so nice today, so off to Daebudo for some fresh air~ 🌿 I'd been craving Korean food for a while! So today I went a bit further into inner Daebudo :) Killed two birds with one stone — fresh air and a good meal~

Lunch special: mushroom kalguksu for 6,900 won

They even had a lunch special discount going on~ 👀 The set combos looked well put together, and the lunch menu especially caught my eye! Mushroom kalguksu (noodle soup) for just 6,900 won… that's pretty much a steal, right? 😆 Affordable and filling enough for a solid one-meal lunch. But since it's the weekend, let's eat hearty haha.

Inside Haemokjeong with kids: how far apart are the tables?

The interior of Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is clean and has baby chairs available. The spacing between tables was generous too, making it comfortable to sit with kids.

The inside of the restaurant is clean, simple-is-best~ Baby chairs are available too, so visiting with kids didn't feel like a hassle at all!

What I liked most was how spacious the tables were~ Since we always travel with kids, tight table spacing makes it hard to look after them and I always worry about bothering the people behind us 🥹 But here the tables were spread out generously, so we could eat comfortably with the kids :)

Jellyfish salad and other banchan you refill yourself

The jellyfish salad they serve as a side dish is honestly a hidden gem~ Crunchy texture, tangy flavor, keeps you coming back for more haha. In the end I refilled it three times from the self-bar 🤣 My nieces and nephews slurped up the seaweed soup happily too haha.

What we ordered at Haemokjeong and what it cost

The menu we chose was

  • Haemokjeong B Set - 45,000 won (spicy braised pork ribs + mushroom kalguksu + fried squid)
  • Handmade king pork cutlet - 13,000 won
  • Plain rice - 1,000 won
  • Self-serve fried rice - 3,000 won

Why we chose mushroom kalguksu over cold kalguksu

For the Haemokjeong B Set, you can choose between mushroom kalguksu and cold kalguksu. I can't give up warm broth, so I went with mushroom kalguksu.

So gorgeous. The visuals alone stole my attention...

You can choose between mushroom kalguksu and cold kalguksu~ No matter how hot it is, I can't give up warm broth, so I chose mushroom kalguksu without hesitation haha. And honestly, it was the right call~! The broth was spicy and rich, and the more I ate, the more I wanted!!! The noodles were chewy and packed with mushrooms, so it was filling and delicious 😋 Just a heads-up, if you keep it boiling the broth can get a bit salty, so adding a little water here and there helps~

How do the spicy braised pork ribs taste? Ribs and rice cakes

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch's spicy braised pork ribs had rice cakes fully soaked in seasoning and spicy, while the ribs were so tender they fell right off the bone. The sauce was so good it was rice-stealing material.

The spicy braised pork ribs looked amazing the moment it arrived haha. Drooled once and dug right in~ I tried the rice cake first, and it was well-seasoned and spicy, just my taste haha. The rib meat was tender too, sliding right off the bone and easy to eat. The sauce was so good that eating it with rice was seriously rice-thief territory!!! 😋

Why the 3,000 won self-serve fried rice is a must

So the self-serve fried rice is truly a must! I just couldn't give up that sauce~~~ Frying rice in it gave a totally different flavor, and even full I kept reaching for more haha. Even I, who don't usually eat fried rice, couldn't put my spoon down until the very end 🤣 If you go here, definitely get the fried rice!!!

Handmade king pork cutlet and fried squid for the kids

The handmade king pork cutlet at 13,000 won is a must-order if you're going with kids haha. They thoughtfully bring the sauce separately without even asking — nice touch~ The cutlet was crispy and had that old-school pork cutlet style, total nostalgic flavor! Best of all, the kids ate it up so well, which made me proud haha. I also tried the fried squid — the batter was thin so you could really feel the squid's chewy texture, light and delicious :)

Final verdict on Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch

Overall, the food was clean and delicious, and the menu variety was satisfying haha. Plenty of menu options made it easy to bring the kids along, and it's a solid Korean restaurant for a hearty meal while touring Daebudo~ It'd also work well for a family outing or a date spot in Daebudo, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good food in Daebudo or Ansan~ 😋
