For a weekend refresh, I took a light trip to Daebudo, famous for its driving course ‼️ Getting hungry, I looked for somewhere great to eat nearby and found Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch, which I'd seen all over social media and TV.

Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch is at 97 Sangdong-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor. If you're driving to this Daebudo favorite, head toward Yeongheungdo/Sihwa Tidal Barrier, turn right at Goyuji Intersection toward Bangameori and Daebu Middle/High School, go straight about 300m, and you'll spot it on the right side of the road ✨

Walking into Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch, the first thing that caught my eye was how clean and spacious the dining room was. It's a newly opened place, so it's super clean! I care a lot about hygiene, and this place passed the moment I stepped in!

The tables are spaced generously, so it's comfortable for conversation! All the staff were warm and friendly too — the best among the Daebudo seafood stew restaurants I've visited 👍🏻

The signature dishes at Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch are the seafood braised short ribs and the abalone seafood hot pot ‼️ There are also plenty of other options like spicy braised pork ribs and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) dishes. I couldn't decide what to get...

After some deliberation, today's pick was the boneless spicy monkfish stew (sunsal agujjim). No need to pick out bones, which is great! And it comes loaded with my favorite roe and milt? Say no more, let's go!

How the boneless monkfish stew tastes: loaded with roe, fragrant minari

At Haemokjeong Daebudo Branch, after ordering, they bring out complimentary seaweed soup and banchan (side dishes) 💖 I especially loved the chives — slightly tangy, kept reaching for more haha.

If it's your birthday, they'll give you a seaweed soup with squid in it — good to mention in advance hahaha.

And finally, the boneless monkfish stew I ordered arrived! Generous portion, and the smell of the rich, sweet-spicy sauce was great the moment I saw it 😋

Since the monkfish is boneless, I could grab big chunks with my chopsticks and eat them in one bite! The flesh was so springy and tender it just melted in my mouth haha.

They use a special stock brewed from over 23 ingredients, so the savory depth of the sauce sinks in deep — total win! And fresh minari (water dropwort) on top adds a fragrant, refreshing note 😊

It was truly loaded with the roe and milt I love, and I was so, so happy 😭😭 This is exactly the kind of Daebudo seafood dish that proves it's packed with fresh ingredients!
