Maybe because I stuffed myself with seafood last night, I wasn't craving seafood or tofu today... so while figuring out what to eat for lunch in Gangneung, I ended up at Moana Burger! It's close to St. John's Hotel, so if you're staying nearby, you have to check this place out. This is a genuine burger gem.

Moana Burger is located in the Chodang-dong Sundubu (soft tofu) Village in Gangneung (228-33 Nanseolheon-ro), open 11:00-21:00 (last order 20:30), closed every Tuesday. It's close to Gangmun Beach too, so it's perfect for a walk after eating 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ We stayed at St. John's Hotel, which is a 16-minute walk or 3-minute drive away, so we swung by easily.

Inside Moana Burger, the tables are spaced generously so it feels open and breezy, and with a large screen and hip music playing, the vacation vibe is strong 🎶 There's a wide open kitchen where you can watch the cooking too.
It looked super clean and tidy. You could see the owner's careful touch throughout the space. Hawaiian vibes 🌺🌴🌺 For reference, I'm someone for whom a bathroom really matters... and this one was clean and single-occupancy, which I loved.
There's a golden retriever named Yeoreum inside the restaurant. A gentle pup who loves people 🐕 And of course, dogs are welcome.

Draft beer gets a ₩2,000 discount when ordered with a burger. I'll have to come back for a draft beer next time >_< This time we drove, so I ordered a Dr Pepper. Personally I love it when a restaurant has Dr Pepper — there aren't many that do haha. It's like a fragrant cola. If you haven't tried Dr Pepper, give it a try!
How do the Moana Burger, Hawaiian Burger and Buffalo Wings taste?
We ordered the Moana Burger, the Hawaiian Burger, and the Buffalo Wings. They also give you a Hawaiian-style flower hairpin 🌺 Such a nice touch ♥️ I clipped it onto my bag right away 😚
First, the Moana Burger! A handmade burger that's faithful to the basics, done right. Genuinely delicious, and the bun especially was savory and slightly crispy! My friend fell in love with this bun haha — you could tell care went into it too. The vegetables were fresh. An original-style burger, savory and full of juice. If you can only pick one, this is the one to get!
Next, the Hawaiian Burger 🏝️ I personally love Hawaiian-style things like Hawaiian burgers and Hawaiian pizza (does that just mean I love grilled pineapple?). The grilled pineapple here was cooked perfectly, and it paired amazingly well with the bacon and patty 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 A juicy patty with sweet pineapple harmony — this was my personal best.
The fries that came with the burgers were also warm, crispy, and salty — delicious enough to eat on their own.
The Buffalo Wings come out in a spicy-sweet sauce, and they went really well with the burgers too. Perfectly suited to Korean tastebuds 👍🏻
They packed up our leftovers for us too.

The vibe was hip and clean, making it a great stop while traveling, and above all, the burgers themselves were really satisfying 🍔 The bun was savory and slightly crispy, and the patty was full of juice. The Moana Burger is faithful to the basics, while the Hawaiian Burger's sweet grilled pineapple and bacon combo worked really well together 👍🏻 The fries and buffalo wings that came alongside were all delicious too, making for an overall high-satisfaction visit!
If you're looking for something different from seafood or sundubu (soft tofu) in Chodang-dong, I'd recommend this. Next time I come to Gangneung, I'll have to come back with a draft beer. 100% return-visit rating 🌴🐈🐕🍔🌺🏝️
