Yu Iksang Sushi: where to eat sushi in Hongdae

Today I'm sharing my review of Yu Iksang Sushi, which I visited because I was craving sushi in Hongdae! There are so many great restaurants around Hongdae, but on days when I want a clean, simple sushi meal, I always end up looking for a sushi place 🍣

Couple A-Plus: the set for two we shared

This time at Yu Iksang Sushi we ordered the Couple A-Plus! Just from the name, it's clearly a menu made for two people to enjoy together, so it's a great order when you're visiting with a friend or partner -

We ordered the Couple A-Plus and split it between us! I think the biggest appeal of sushi is being able to taste so many different kinds at once 💗 Rather than sticking to one dish, picking out a variety of pieces one by one naturally made it fun to try a bit of everything, and it was also a nice pace for chatting slowly over the meal!

What is Yu Iksang Sushi like inside?

Walking into Yu Iksang Sushi, the whole place felt clean and comfortable, making it a pleasant spot to eat! Since Hongdae tends to have a lot of foot traffic, plenty of restaurants there feel crowded, so it was nice to find a spot where I could eat sushi at a relaxed pace - ♥️

The restaurant was also well laid out for eating sushi comfortably, making it a good place to visit with friends or a partner, and nice for sitting at a table chatting while eating slowly! Especially with sushi, the food itself matters, but I feel like a clean interior makes the whole meal feel more comfortable too ☺️

If you're trying to figure out what to eat for lunch or dinner while on a date in Hongdae, sushi is a clean option that's easy to go for without much worry!! We had a great meal that day too, sharing pieces one by one! 😊

Hongdae date course: sushi first, café after

Hongdae has tons of cafés and bars too, but I think a date course of sushi followed by a café is also really nice sometimes 💗 One perk of sushi in particular is that you can pick pieces based on your own taste, so there's less back-and-forth about what to order when you're there with someone else!

We shared the Couple A-Plus that day, picking pieces one at a time, and even ended up debating little things like whether to eat our favorite piece first or save it for last 😂 Isn't that part of the fun of eating sushi? So while it's fine to eat alone for a simple meal, personally I felt this menu suits sharing with two people — a friend or a partner — even better!

Why we picked live-fish sushi over sauced pieces

If you're looking for a good sushi restaurant in Hongdae, definitely check out Yu Iksang Sushi! It's a solid choice for days when you want a clean meal in Hongdae, or when you want to go on a sushi date with a partner 🍣🤍 This was already my second visit, and while my friend ate the sauced sushi, I'm not great with heavily sauced pieces, so I mostly picked raw fish sushi!
