Charcoal LA galbisal and beef rib platters for 3 in Yeonsinnae
In short
Golmokjip Galbisal Yeonsinnae Main Branch is a charcoal beef rib restaurant near Exit 6 of Yeonsinnae Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Three diners split a half portion of LA flower galbisal (400g) and a half portion of beef galbisal (300g), with soybean paste stew, cold buckwheat noodles, spicy chicken ramyeon and rice, and the charcoal-grilled meat came out moist with no gamey smell at all. What's the interior like?
Inside there are lots of tables, including long ones, so it seemed perfect for a company dinner or a family gathering. There were also plenty of 4-person tables, so it looked like a good spot for groups of 2 to 4 too!
The interior was also decorated with old magazines, which added a nice retro vibe haha. Flipping through old magazines while waiting was actually fun ☺️
The menu

The menu ranges from full portions to half portions, plus single items like yukhoe (raw beef tartare) and marinated beef galbisal. There were also sides like stew, cold noodles, and spicy chicken ramyeon.

Not shown in the photos, but they also had pork and beef ribs, so you could choose based on your taste, and ordering via tablet was really convenient!

What we ordered for 3 people
- LA flower galbisal half portion (400g)
- Beef galbisal half portion (300g)
- Soybean paste stew x1
- Cold buckwheat noodles x1
- Spicy chicken ramyeon x1
- Rice x1
The food review

Side dishes and water came out as soon as we ordered — fitting the retro vibe, the barley tea came in a glass bottle straight out of your grandma's house lol. The side dish spread was clean and solid, and I liked that there were lots of pickled vegetables that go well with beef!

There were dried radish strips, kimchi, and sauces you could enjoy to your taste!
The owner lit the fire right away, and the charcoal heat and the visual were both amazing..
They served the galbisal first, and the quality and color of the meat were insane ㅜㅜ. The portion was generous, and above all, the marbling was out of control,,

They grilled it right on the spot and it was delicious. The moment it hit the grill, the sound and smell were amazing.

You have to order the soybean paste stew
And then the soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) we ordered arrived! You really have to get this ㅠㅠ. There wasn't a hint of artificial flavor — it was a truly rich stew that went perfectly with rice, and it was loaded with tofu. The flavor was so deep, that savory taste spreading from your throat down to your stomach really set my stomach straight ㅜㅜ

The taste of charcoal-grilled beef galbisal
I dipped the well-grilled beef galbisal in salt and the basic sauce provided! No gamey smell, no toughness at all — it melted away the second it hit my mouth, pure magic.. Maybe because it was charcoal-grilled, the inside was truly moist, and it was the tastiest beef I've had in a while ㅜㅜ

How was the LA flower galbisal?
The LA flower galbisal came out next and went straight onto the fire haha. Compared to the beef galbisal, the LA flower galbisal seemed to have more fat content and even deeper marbling.
I'd only ever had the marinated version of LA galbi before, but today I learned that the real deal is grilled over charcoal.. The juices were overflowing and so savory, it was incredibly delicious. It also pulled apart easily with chopsticks, so it wasn't awkward to eat at all.

Putting beef galbisal on top of the dried radish strips was amazing too, and eating it with pickled onions was insane 💖. There were so many side dishes to pair with the meat that it was fun to just keep experimenting.

Finishing off with cold noodles and spicy chicken ramyeon
Feeling like something was missing, we also ordered cold buckwheat noodles (mul-naengmyeon) — it cut right through the richness of the beef, and the noodle broth was delicious with nice chewy noodles, seriously so good ㅜ. Cutting up beef galbisal and putting it on top was pure heaven. I really recommend this one too...

I also tried a bite of my friend's spicy chicken ramyeon! The owner's ramyeon-boiling skills were amazing. Not a single overcooked noodle — it was cooked to a perfect chewy texture, so delicious 💖
