Korean BBQ in Eunpyeong: beef ribs and soybean rice at Golmokjip
In short
Golmokjip Galbisal Yeonsinnae Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Two people shared a 300g plate of charcoal-grilled beef ribs, mul naengmyeon, and the free soybean paste stew changed to soybean-paste rice. Verdict: a lovely easygoing choice for quality beef ribs in a retro setting.

I’d been craving those savory beef ribs for days, so I headed to Golmokjip Galbisal Yeonsinnae Main Branch (골목집갈비살 연신내본점), tucked into the Yeonsinnae food alley! Even pork is in the high ₩10,000s per serving these days, so it was nice to be able to enjoy beef without much extra burden at a similar price. The meat quality was so much better than I expected that I had to quickly share this one.

Location near Yeonsinnae Station’s food alley and the interior atmosphere
It’s on the first floor at 12-9 Yeonseo-ro 27-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, right in the Yeonsinnae Station food alley, so it’s easy to find. It’s a six-minute walk from Exit 5 of Yeonsinnae Station!
Inside the restaurant

The interior was styled like a retro alleyway, just like the restaurant’s name! The old movie posters and little props on the walls gave it such a warm, nostalgic feel, haha. There are around six or seven tables, but the walkways between them weren’t cramped, so it never felt stuffy!! I also liked how cleanly the whole place seemed to be run.

Each table is set with hygienically wrapped utensils, water, and cups.

These are the basic side dishes! They bring fresh vegetables, pickles, garlic, kimchi, dried radish strips, myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), and sauces.
Tablet ordering and plate-set options

Ordering is easy on the tablet at each table. The menu has everything from the signature beef ribs, plain or marinated, to premium pork belly and pork cuts. I especially liked that the plate-set menus are put together well, letting you enjoy meats such as beef ribs and premium pork belly at a good value, so it’s easy to choose according to your group size and tastes! You can also order sides like soybean paste stew, naengmyeon, and steamed egg, plus yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and extra side dishes, straight from the screen.

Once you finish ordering, they bring out the charcoal like this. It’s charcoal rather than gas, so the heat is strong and the meat cooks beautifully~!

- Beef rib plate (300g, 2 servings) — ₩38,900
- Mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) — ₩5,900
A plate of beef ribs for two
The two of us ordered one plate of beef ribs, which is two servings! The meat had a bright red color with just the right amount of marbling, so its freshness was obvious even before it hit the grill! 👀 For two servings, it was exactly enough for the two of us to have as a meal, without feeling skimpy at all, haha.

Maybe because it was charcoal, the heat was so good that the juices rose up as soon as the meat went on the grill!! A subtle charcoal aroma soaked into the meat, and it was the kind of flavor you could keep eating without getting tired of it!!...🫧
If you cook it too long, it can become dry, so it tasted best when I flipped it at just the right time, once little beads of juice had risen on the surface, locking all that juice in!! ✨😭

The meat was tender to chew and had a rich, nutty flavor—probably because the quality was so good. Most of all!! I loved that there was no unpleasant meat smell. For the first bite, I recommend dipping it very lightly in salt so you can taste the meat itself.
Every so often, wrap it with the sharp pickled onions or tangy dressed lettuce, and you can enjoy every last bite without it feeling greasy.
Changing the free soybean paste stew to soybean-paste rice
With an order, one serving of Golmok soybean paste stew is included for free! You can swap the stew for soybean-paste rice instead, so just let the staff know when you order if you’d like to do that!

We changed ours to soybean-paste rice. It came bubbling away in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), with the rice mixed in, and the broth had soaked right into every grain—such a hearty, deep flavor!! It went so much better than ordering a separate bowl of rice with the stew, so if you visit, I really recommend changing it to soybean-paste rice!! ⭐️

Mul naengmyeon to finish
As we were finishing the meat, we added one mul naengmyeon to wrap things up on a refreshing note!! The broth looked cooling just from the start, and its slight tang and savory depth completely cleared away the richness after the meat, haha. The noodles were springy and chewy too, with such a nice texture!
