Ramen with chashu, egg and noodle refills in Eunpyeong: Oreno Ramen

In short

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a Japanese ramen restaurant tucked in an alley near Bulgwangcheon stream, about 10 minutes on foot from Saejeol Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. The blogger ordered the signature tori paitan ramen (chicken broth ramen) with extra chashu, extra egg and a noodle refill, and finished the broth completely. A satisfying solo-dining spot for anyone who loves rich, milky chicken broth.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a well-known Eunpyeong-gu restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from Saejeol Station. It's near Bulgwangcheon stream, so it's a great stop after a walk along the water or just for lunch. First-timers might need to look a bit since it's tucked inside an alley, but it wasn't hard to find!

Order kiosk placed at the store entrance

Kiosk ordering, and the menu is tori paitan ramen

Right when you walk in there's a kiosk, so ordering is easy. The menu isn't as big as you'd expect. But honestly, places like this are often confident about every single item on a short menu, right? Haha, that just made me more excited.

On my coworker's recommendation, I ordered the signature tori paitan ramen! Next time I want to try the kara paitan, which has some spice to it.

Bar seats made for solo dining

The interior really felt like a Japanese ramen shop. There are bar seats perfect for eating alone, plus tables for 2–4, so it works whether you come by yourself or with a friend. There were actually quite a few solo diners there too. If you're looking for a solo-dining ramen spot near Saejeol Station, I'd recommend this one!

Self-serve barley tea provided as the drink

The drink was a nice touch — barley tea. I feel like little details like that show the owner's thoughtfulness.

A bowl of tori paitan ramen with milky broth

Milky tori paitan broth, tastes like rich samgyetang

The ramen finally arrived! The first thing that struck me was the broth color. Most ramen broths tend to be brownish, but this one was pale and milky, which felt really unique. One sip and I immediately understood why it's famous. The savoriness of the deeply simmered chicken broth is seriously the real deal. Personally, it felt like eating rich samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) broth in ramen form. Heavy and rich, but not greasy or overwhelming, so I kept spooning up more broth.

Extra chashu comes skewer-style

I added chashu this time, and it comes out skewered in a round shape. Soaking it in the broth before eating was so good.

Noodle texture

The noodles had just the right bounce while still soaking up the broth well, so the pairing with the soup was really good. Not too soft, not too firm — just the right doneness.

The toppings were generous too. The soft-boiled egg, an essential for any ramen, was moist and perfectly cooked, and the chicken breast chashu had a subtle pepper aroma that paired really well with the broth. I also ordered an extra egg, which made the portion much more filling and satisfying, haha.

Kimchi when it gets rich, noodle refill when the broth is left

Right around when it starts to feel rich, if you ask for kimchi they'll give you some, and eating it right away settles things down — guess I really am Korean after all, haha.

One of the perks of Oreno Ramen is that noodle refills are possible! You know those moments when there's still broth left but not enough noodles? You can add more without hesitation, which is great. The flavor makes you want to finish every last drop of broth, so a noodle refill is basically a must, haha.

Wrap-up

If you love tori paitan ramen with a rich chicken broth base, you'll really be satisfied here. It's great for solo dining and also a nice stop after a walk along Bulgwangcheon, so I think I'll be coming back often, haha. If you're searching for restaurants near Saejeol Station, ramen in Eunpyeong-gu, or good food in Eunpyeong, give Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong a try! I'm planning to go back next time for the kara paitan 😋
