Hapjeong sukiyaki with twin yolks and konjac noodles: Nahonsha

In short

Nahonsha is a solo shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant on Dokmak-ro by Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Two friends ordered the Hon Sukiyaki for two and, instead of one shared pan, each received an individual pot piled with beef, mushrooms, tofu and konjac noodles, eating at their own pace and seasoning it with a raw egg yolk and the broth served on the side, so nothing tasted heavy. If you want sukiyaki in Hapjeong that is just as easy to eat alone, Nahonsha is the answer.

Hi, it's Suya~~ Today I went to Hapjeong with a friend! I heard there was a great sukiyaki place around there so I checked it out haha. This is Nahonsha, sukiyaki in Hapjeong!

Inside Nahonsha: is it comfortable for solo diners?

The inside of Nahonsha feels like this. The vibe was so upscale it honestly surprised me — like a fine dining restaurant!!!!! I feel like it'd be perfect for a date in Hapjeong too haha.

Overall it's clean and cozy, so eating alone didn't feel awkward at all, and the spacing between seats was comfortable enough to eat at ease! The lighting wasn't too bright or overwhelming either, giving it a warm feeling, and as a place built for solo dining, you can relax and eat without worrying about people around you — I really liked that! The calm, tidy Japanese-style atmosphere made eating sukiyaki feel even more comfortable!! It's great to visit with a friend too, but I'd especially recommend this Hapjeong spot for when you want to eat something delicious quietly on your own!

Nahonsha's menu: shabu-shabu and sukiyaki

Nahonsha in Hapjeong basically serves shabu-shabu and sukiyaki! They have various broths like mala and tomato, plus sukiyaki, so there's a good variety to choose from!!

You can add extra noodles too haha. I ordered the Hon Sukiyaki for two! What's great about Nahonsha in Hapjeong is that it's not a shared dish — each person gets their own individual portion!! So you can each order what you want to eat and enjoy it more comfortably, which I loved haha.

It comes out like this as an individual pot, so you can eat exactly how you like haha.

What comes in one Hon Sukiyaki pot, and is it enough?

This is the sukiyaki portion I ordered at Nahonsha! As you can see, the portion is really generous, right?!?? The vegetables come in a nice variety too — mushrooms, tofu — and there's plenty of meat! I loved that so much haha.

And there's even the egg yolk, the lifeblood of sukiyaki, hahahaha. The broth also comes separately, so you can season it to your own taste — I loved that! My friend got twin yolks! Total lucky Vicky moment~~~ I was so jealous haha.

There were also various sauces like chili and peanut, so you could eat however you liked. I feel like these sauces would go even better with shabu-shabu!!

How the sukiyaki tastes once it simmers: konjac noodles and egg yolk

As soon as it arrived I let it bubble away and dug in haha. It looked so totally Japanese... it looked so delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ The composition was really substantial, I loved it so much. Is this really a single serving?? ㄷㄷㄷㄷ The portion is seriously huge.

There were konjac noodles in there too, which was perfect for getting nice and full!!!!! You can see how much meat there is, right?!

A bowl of sukiyaki loaded with meat and mushrooms

There was plenty of both meat and mushrooms, so I ate so happily ㅠㅠ It was genuinely so delicious!!!!! Personally I think pouring in all of the given broth tastes even better! It wasn't salty at all and was so delicious!

Meat dipped into egg yolk for sukiyaki

Sukiyaki is really all about dipping it in the egg yolk hahahaha. Eating it this way wasn't greasy at all and was so delicious! Sukiyaki can easily turn greasy, but the seasoning here was spot on and it was so tasty!!!!!

Why Nahonsha works for solo sukiyaki and one-person shabu-shabu in Hapjeong

Strongly recommended for anyone looking for solo shabu-shabu or a solo dining spot in Hapjeong. If you're looking for a great sukiyaki spot in Hapjeong, I recommend Nahonsha!! Since it's a restaurant built for solo diners, visiting alone doesn't feel awkward at all, and having your own individual pot means you can enjoy it at your own pace, which I loved haha.

Simmering fresh vegetables and meat in the sweet-and-savory sukiyaki broth was really delicious, and dipping the meat in egg made it wonderfully soft and rich. The ingredients came out clean and the portion was heartier than expected, so it made for a really satisfying meal! It's a place I'd especially want to revisit on days when I want warm, delicious sukiyaki all by myself. Recommended as a great solo-dining spot in Hapjeong~~~
