Sunset hill walk at Geurimseu Cafe, a Cheonan café with pumpkin bread

As a resident of Cheongdang-dong in Cheonan, touring pretty large-format cafés on the weekend is one of my little healing rituals! This weekend I went to a spacious brunch café with a huge lot and gorgeous scenery, haha. The café sits on high ground with a lush green mountain wrapping around the back, so the green view was absolutely perfect!

A tip from a Cheongdang-dong local! When you follow the navigation, there's no left-turn signal for entering Geurimseu Cafe from the Cheonan side, so it can catch you off guard, ㅠㅠ. Neighbors driving there for the first time, please drive carefully!

Once you arrive at GRIMS Cafe, you'll see the spacious parking lot and the building, haha.

The outdoor hill path and terrace view behind Geurimseu Cafe

Walk around the back of Geurimseu Cafe and you'll find a steep outdoor hill path going up! The higher you climb, the better the scenery spreading out below and the more open the view gets — total magic... haha ✨

The weather was cool and the breeze was nice, so I briefly considered having brunch on the outdoor terrace. Since we visited in the evening and it would get dark soon, we sadly gave up on eating outside, ㅠㅠ

Instead, I got to soak in the outdoor scenery and breathe in all the phytoncides while it was still bright out, lol.

The outdoor space is so open that it was really nice for catching some fresh air, haha.

What is the indoor seating like? Split-level and a cozy first floor

After finishing our look around outside, the first thing you see coming inside is this uniquely structured split mid-level (?) table seating!

The first-floor seats are tucked cozily into a recessed space, so it had a really snug feel. The guests sitting there... maybe because it's so comfortable, none of them seemed to want to leave, lol ㅠ.

This is the seating on the opposite side! It's more open, so it keeps the airy feel of a large café, and the interior is much prettier, so I liked it more, haha. So we ended up seating ourselves here!

What is on the menu at Geurimseu Cafe?

Most of the menu is visible on Naver, but this was the first time I'd seen Geurimseu's special event here!

From Western-style brunch items like pasta, sandwiches, and salads to the bakery breads baked fresh in-house every day, the menu is really packed, haha.

Basil cream pasta

I really love that fragrant, distinctive basil flavor, ㅠㅠ. The thick, savory cream has that fragrant basil scent melted deeply into it, and it clings to your palate perfectly! There was also a generous amount of plump, chunky shrimp in the pasta, so it was really satisfying as a protein boost too, lol.

Sweet pumpkin campagne (pumpkin sourdough bread)

If you like plain, healthy bread, this sweet pumpkin campagne will definitely hit the spot! Inside the campagne dough — crispy outside, chewy inside — there's sweet, soft pumpkin and chewy fillings packed generously throughout. The more you chew, the more savory and mild it gets, and dipping it into the basil cream pasta sauce is honestly a match made in heaven, haha. It's also satisfying and gentle on the stomach enough to work as a full meal!

I recommend Grims (Geurimseu) Cafe, a large brunch café where you can heal near Cheongdang-dong in Cheonan!
