Gimhae Korean restaurant for beef intestine bone stew

In short

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is a Korean restaurant in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, serving beef intestine bone stew, haejangguk, and gamjatang. I ordered the less-spicy ₩45,000 beef intestine bone stew with unlimited add-ins, pot rice, fried rice, and scorched rice. A seriously filling meal I would happily return for.

A Yulha bone stew spot still busy at 9 a.m.

Bones... meat lover right here!!! As the weather got juuuust a little cooler, I started craving hot soup too, and heard that Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk has a Yulha branch known for haejangguk, so off I went!! I loved that it opens early at 8, and even though I arrived just after 9, there were already customers finishing up and leaving, people eating alone, and more customers kept coming in after I got there!

Park in the solid-line section in front of the restaurant, or use the free public parking lot behind it.

Open daily from 08:00 to 22:00; last orders are at 21:30.

The spacious, spotless interior mixed traditional hanok elements with modern design, centered around warm wood tones. The black tiled-eave-shaped decoration was a great touch that brought out the Korean restaurant feel, and the sign for unlimited self-bar add-ins really caught my eye!!

There was plenty of space between tables and in the walkways, plus lots of seats~ Long bench seating ran along the wall, so it would be great for a family meal or a group visit, and high chairs were available too. Chef uniforms, medals, certificates, and trophies were displayed as well, and you could really feel the pride in the food!

Ordering from the menu and the serving robot

They sell haejangguk (hangover soup) meals with pyeonyuk (pressed pork slices) for one to four people, plus bone stew, gamjatang (pork bone soup), and haejangguk. There is also boneless haejangguk, boneless bone haejangguk, garlic pork-skin pyeonyuk, and jellyfish salad pyeonyuk. Such a generous menu~!! Which made choosing... difficult..ㅠㅠ

Please order at the kiosk~ You pay later!!

There was a serving robot that found its way to each table number and brought over the side dishes. Its wide tray had several levels, so it could carry food to multiple tables at once! Even adults find a serving robot fun and fascinating, so for families with children haha, the kids must love it, right?

Serving robot carrying side dishes

The serving robot brought the side dishes along with our order: cubed radish kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, chili peppers, onion, a dipping sauce for the bone stew, and ssamjang.

Side dishes of cubed radish kimchi and kimchi

The napa cabbage kimchi was tasty too, but this place is a cubed-radish-kimchi gem. The kkakdugi was reaaally good!!! These side dishes cut through the richness, so I enjoyed them so much.

Garlic and chili dipping sauce for bone stew

Dipping the bone meat into the sauce seasoned with minced garlic and chili peppers~ it completely cuts the sweetness!!! Oh! I also thought the view through that window over there was so pretty. It felt like eating close to nature from inside the restaurant, with the warm wood tones and fresh green scenery working so well together~

Beef intestine bone stew and unlimited add-ins

The small beef intestine bone stew was ₩45,000, with spice options of less spicy or spicy, so I ordered less spicy. Self-service fried rice was ₩3,000, and a pot of rice was ₩2,000.

Table setting for beef intestine bone stew
Bone stew topped with beef intestine

A savory bone stew loaded with charcoal aroma~ At Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk in Gimhae, they select domestic pork neck bones themselves, cut and cook them in-house, so you get plenty of meat. When the beef intestine bone stew arrived at the table... you could feel how generous it was.

Huge bones were topped with plump beef intestine, sliced green onion~ and sooo much sesame. The seasoning on the bones looked glossy and soaked right through, while the intestineㅠㅠ was thick~~ and bouncy just like in the photos, full of rich fat inside!!

The more it bubbled away... the more the intestine blended into the broth, and it tasted like something that made me want to add even more intestine!!!!

There were glass noodles, sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), joraengi-tteok (small cocoon-shaped rice cakes), potatoes, ramen noodles, kkakdugi, kimchi, chili peppers, onion, and broth. As you can see from the photos, the self-bar area was kept very clean and hygienic. Both the add-ins and side dishes felt fresh, so I could eat with confidence.

And beside the self bar was the pot-rice station. Our ordered pot rice was going ch-ch-ch~~ as it cooked.

In go the add-ins, and let it bubble bubble~~

I mean... where else gives unlimited add-ins and broth at a bone stew restaurant!!! ☆☆☆Five staaars~~☆☆

Since it was bone stew, the broth level was fairly low~ so as I added the extras, I poured in more of the broth from the self bar and cooked them up deliciously too!!! The bone meat was excellent, but the intestine was also so good that I think my companion and I were subtly competing for it hahaha

From freshly cooked pot rice to fried rice and scorched rice

Drumroll~~ While we were eating the add-ins, the individual pot rice came out!!! The freshly cooked rice was glossy right from the start~~~ The chewy yet fluffy white rice was a perfect match for the rich beef intestine bone stew, and after scooping out the rice, I poured in water for sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) too~!!

The grains were bouncy and sticky, and with the deeply seasoned meat... seriously delicious. By then the ramen noodles, rice cakes, sujebi, and potato add-ins had cooked too!!! You know, right? You absolutely, absolutely have to eat the ramen noodles.

Hahaha... From the morning, we were very full, yes... and we ate fried rice too. The seasoning was so good that the bone stew, the add-ins, and even the fried rice were all delicious.

After thoroughly enjoying the beef intestine bone stew and add-ins, we added the rice, seaweed flakes, kimchi, pickled radish, and green onion from the self-service fried-rice set to the sauce and stir-fried it~ La la la, of course hahaha, fried rice is the proper ending!

The seasoning seeped perfectly between every grain of rice, with chewy bits of ramen noodles and the savory seaweed flakes too..ㅠㅠ Even though I was full, I just kept... eating..

Seasoned fried rice and scorched rice

One bite, two bites of rich fried rice. Then I had the nurungji (crisp scorched rice) made from the rice pressed against the pot, and it felt like it freshened up my mouth, so the meal was delicious right through the end.

They also serve slushies for free!!!! I was reaaally sooooo full, but saying I couldn't possibly pass up a slushie hahaha, I finished with a refreshing one too.

A place where I kept reaching for one last spoonful even when I was full!! The beef intestine bone stew had tender meat that came easily off the bones, paired with a bite of glossy pot rice. The many add-ins soaked up the tasty seasoning, followed by fried rice with savory seaweed flakes and nutty nurungji... It was a satisfying, hearty meal where everything, from the main dish to the very last bite, pleased me!! I'm already wondering what I'll order next at Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang. For me, it is a 100% return visit without hesitation. Recommended!
