Eunpyeong Korean BBQ with stone-grilled Hanwoo: Sambaek Hanu Daecheop
In short
Sambaek Hanu Daecheop is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, serving grade 1 or higher fresh Hanwoo sirloin on a stone grill. We enjoyed a generous 300g sirloin set with side dishes, complimentary doenjang-jjigae, and mul-naengmyeon. Verdict: a satisfying choice when you are craving Hanwoo without quite as much price pressure.

A more approachable Hanwoo meal in Yeonsinnae
I found a place in Yeonsinnae where you can eat Hanwoo at a pretty decent price, so I went! It is called "Sambaek Hanu Daecheop" (삼백한우대첩) 💛 It is seriously, seriously delicious 🥹

These days, just deciding to have Hanwoo can feel a little pricey from the start, right? But this was a place where I saw the prices and thought, wow, this is really reasonable. 👍🏻

They even had a standing sign outside, and aren't the Hanwoo prices really good~? It felt like a great Yeonsinnae Korean BBQ spot to drop into comfortably when you want Hanwoo but hesitate because of the price.

When we went inside, there were more customers than I expected, and I could see separate reserved group tables too. Sambaek Hanu Daecheop looked like a nice place for a company dinner or gathering in the neighborhood as well.

Ordering 300g of fresh Hanwoo sirloin
After looking over the menu, the two of us ordered 300g of fresh Hanwoo sirloin. We also got complimentary doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) through a review event! The fresh Hanwoo sirloin set comes with 300g of grade 1 or higher Hanwoo, which was just right for two people.

After we ordered, they heated up the stone grill first and set out the banchan (side dishes). Time to get ready for meat!

They told us not to put the meat on the stone grill right away—it needed to heat fully for about eight minutes. They even kindly set a stopwatch before leaving~!

There was a great variety of side dishes too. From seasoned scallion salad and green-onion kimchi to white kimchi and radish kimchi, they brought out a well-rounded selection that paired nicely with Hanwoo.

The sauces included wasabi, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and salt. Personally, salt and wasabi is my favorite combination with beef, haha.

Grilling thick sirloin on the stone grill
Here came the Hanwoo! Since it was 300g, I wondered how much meat it would actually be, but the pieces were thicker and larger than I expected. Cute mushrooms came with it too. The moment we put the meat on the well-heated stone grill, it went sizzle—and it instantly made my mouth water. My heart rate goes up a little from the very moment I start grilling meat.. After flipping it once, it was turning beautifully golden! It still looks delicious when I watch the video again, haha.

Even though the meat was quite thick, the stone grill was so well heated that it cooked faster than I expected.

Beef is delicious a little underdone, but I am old-fashioned like that(?) haha, so I cut it into easy-to-eat pieces and cooked it a little more.

The moment I took a bite, all I could do was marvel. The meat was tender, yet it still had that distinctive sirloin chew, and it was so delicious. It was one of those moments that made me think, ah, this is why people eat Hanwoo!

The doenjang-jjigae and side-dish combination
Once the complimentary doenjang-jjigae arrived too, it became a complete course of rice, stew, and beef. You simply cannot resist this combination, haha.

I picked up a big piece of meat and tried it, and first of all, it was so tender. But it was not overly soft or mushy; since it was sirloin, it had just the right texture too, and I could not help applauding, seriously ㅠㅠ

A piece of Hanwoo on green-onion kimchi was delicious too,

and rolling it up in seasoned scallion salad gave it another kind of flavor! As expected, the more varied the side dishes with beef, the more you keep reaching for it.

Add pickled onions, chili peppers, and garlic, and I could just keep eating forever…😂 It was fun combining each piece of Hanwoo with a different side dish.

Mul-naengmyeon to finish
As we ate the meat, I suddenly started craving mul-naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth), so we ended up ordering one. Naengmyeon with meat is just the rule, of course.

The naengmyeon here was seriously delicious too!!! The noodles were chewy, while the broth was rich, refreshing, and slightly spicy, making it perfect for finishing after the meat.

With a whole table full of food for the two of us, it was truly generous. Above all, considering Hanwoo prices these days, I loved that we could enjoy it with a little less of a burden. If you are looking for great Hanwoo in Yeonsinnae, I think it would be worth visiting at least once.

The chalkboard they had written outside caught my eye as we left~~ Having tried it, I can confirm: grade 1 Hanwoo approved! 👍 From now on, when I crave Hanwoo, I think I will come here without hesitation. For anyone looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant in Yeonsinnae, or a Hanwoo place with solid value, I recommend "Sambaek Hanu Daecheop" :)
