Matgim's 35,000 won course: all six plates, one by one
Matgim's 5–6 course omakase came out in this order: fig and tofu cream cheese, grilled napa cabbage, tripe tacos, ragu pasta, pork tenderloin steak, and plum granita. The course kicked off properly, starting with a light appetizer-style dish alongside a drink.
1. Fig with tofu cream cheese

This was my pick of the night. It was the tastiest. I was amazed they managed to source figs this delicious.

It looked colorful and pretty from the start. The drink was colorful too, great for whetting the appetite, and it paired well with the prosciutto.
2. Grilled baby napa cabbage

The next dish, grilled napa cabbage, came piled with cheese and loaded with salty bacon chips. Crisp, nutty, and savory-salty flavors came together nicely. My boyfriend said this was his favorite dish!
3. Tripe tacos

Next came a taco-style dish that was also a standout. Meat, fresh cilantro, and tangy tomato sauce were piled onto a tortilla. A little squeeze of lemon on top and it had no greasiness at all, just fragrant.
Fire!!!
4. Daily pasta: ragu pasta

The sauce clung tightly to the noodles, so the seasoning had soaked in really well. It was fresh off the stove and still steaming, and twirling it onto my fork brought an explosion of umami. The sauce was rich yet nutty, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more. The noodles were a daoxiaomian style, and we just slurped the whole thing down while chatting.
5. Pork tenderloin steak

The main steak dish came neatly sliced. The cross-section was rosy pink and cooked tender. Paired with the basil pesto sauce underneath, a luxurious flavor filled the whole mouth.

Topped with pickle-like garnish and whole-grain mustard, it stayed clean without getting tiresome. The herb chimichurri had a faint hint of mint, refreshing, and it paired beautifully with the meat.
6. Dessert: plum granita

The final dessert was a sweet-tart sherbet. Topped with jelly and fresh fruit slices, it cleaned the palate right up.

It was the perfect refreshing finish for a mouth that had gone sweet and heavy. I already love plums, so this was even better because of that.
Is Matgim worth booking? Final verdict
Here's my final verdict on Matgim, this Geomdan omakase bar. Every dish felt full of care, and the flow of the course was perfect. The portions were just right too, so I could enjoy it all without feeling weighed down. In this cozy atmosphere, it's a great place to visit for a special occasion over a glass of wine or a highball.
