Seongsu tonkatsu restaurant with high chairs and Mickey dishes: Kosi

Today I want to share a place I visited for lunch during a Seongsu outing with my baby! It's Kosi Seongsu Branch, a Seongsu tonkatsu spot that turned out to be really comfortable to visit with a baby.

Why we picked Kosi Seongsu Branch for lunch on a Seoul Forest outing

Walking around Seongsu, I started getting hungry and tonkatsu just popped into my head haha. Since I was going with the baby, the most important thing was finding somewhere not too loud where we could eat comfortably. Turns out there's a famous tonkatsu and udon spot near Ttukseom Station called Kosi, so I decided right away! I'd heard the half-and-half katsu was amazing, so I walked in with high expectations haha.

The moment we walked in, it felt quieter than I expected. Maybe because we went during the day, there weren't many people, so it was easy to eat comfortably with the baby. Overall the place has a clean, casual vibe. I saw quite a few people dining solo too, and since there's bar seating, coming alone wouldn't feel awkward at all haha.

And here's the point that touched me most as a mom — there was a baby chair, and the staff even brought out Mickey Mouse baby dishware 🥹

Little things like that just melt your heart haha. Bringing your own dishware when eating out with a baby is honestly a hassle, so I was really grateful they took care of it for us!

The menu wasn't just tonkatsu — there was a variety of udon and rice bowl dishes too, so it was fun to choose

What we ordered at Kosi Seongsu Branch and what it cost

• Fresh pork loin half-and-half katsu ₩13,500
• Sanuki mazeudon ₩11,000
• Gyudon ₩10,500

The half-and-half katsu lets you try loin katsu and cheese katsu at once, so it's perfect when it's hard to pick just one haha. The portion was generous too — with three dishes we ended up stuffed haha. If I were to recommend a combo: one tonkatsu plus one udon or rice bowl! You get to alternate crispy and soft dishes, so it never gets boring.

Fresh pork loin half-and-half katsu, 13,500 won

Today's clear winner was the half-and-half katsu! Genuinely so good ㅠㅠ. The loin katsu had crispy breading and moist meat inside with no toughness at all. A little wasabi on top made it clean and perfect! The cheese katsu had cheese oozing out the moment I cut into it — passed the visual test instantly haha.

The savory cheese combined with the lean meat kept me reaching for more without feeling greasy. Alternating between a bite of loin and a bite of cheese, it disappeared in no time haha. If you're looking for a Seongsu tonkatsu spot, definitely try the half-and-half katsu!

There's salad sauce set out at the table, so it was nice being able to pour on as much as I wanted!

Sanuki mazeudon, 11,000 won

Mazeudon is a dish where you mix the noodles with sauce and meat! The noodles were springy and chewy with a great bite, and the sauce clung to the noodles for a strong umami hit. It wasn't too heavy to eat alongside tonkatsu haha.

Sprinkle on the shichimi provided at the table and the umami really pops — you know the feeling, right?

Gyudon, 10,500 won

The gyudon had tender meat over a sweet-savory sauce, great for mixing into the rice. If you're coming with a baby, it might be a good idea to order a noodle or rice dish, check the seasoning yourself, and share small bites!

We sat at the window-side bar seats! With the baby in the baby chair next to us, we both looked out the window while eating — turned out to be a hidden gem of a spot haha. The baby sat still watching the street outside, so mom got to eat comfortably too haha. Go during the day and the sunlight through the window makes your food photos come out bright! Besides the bar, there are also tables, so it's fine for families or groups of friends too.

Just a note, there can be a wait during lunch peak hours. There's also a break time, so be sure to check before visiting! I heard they're running a review event too, so give it a try if you visit. Next time I'd love to try the bukkake udon and katsudon too!
