Looking for a spacious outdoor bar in Hongdae
Today I'm introducing a Hongdae outdoor bar called 'Kkoko Land' (꼬꼬랜드). When you look for a place to drink in Hongdae, there are really so many good spots, but finding a genuinely spacious outdoor seating area isn't easy. Especially when a bunch of friends gather, some places have cramped seats and tight table spacing, so space has kind of become an important factor for me when choosing a bar haha.
This time, after dinner with friends in Hongdae, we were trying to figure out where to go for round two and ended up at Kkoko Land. The moment we walked in, the space was way bigger than expected, and I thought this would be great even for a big group. Today I'll introduce Kkoko Land, a Sangsu bar where we enjoyed chicken packed with charcoal aroma!
Exterior and interior atmosphere

The exterior really stood out because it has a distinctive look. But you couldn't see inside from the street, so I had no idea just how spacious it was inside.

Personally, what I liked best about Kkoko Land was the genuinely spacious layout.

When I think of an outdoor yajang setup, I usually picture just a few tables, but here there were way more tables than I expected.

There's a separate indoor space plus a wide outdoor yajang area, so on nice days you could eat outside, and if it gets a bit too hot or cold, you could just move indoors.
Menu layout

Looking at the menu, sure enough, as a well-known Hongdae chicken spot, they had a wide variety of charcoal chicken options. From charcoal-grilled boneless barbecue to chicken thigh dishes, there were plenty of tempting options for anyone who loves that charcoal smoke flavor. Beyond chicken, there were also quite a few side dish options, so it would be great to order a bunch of different things if you're visiting with several people.
Charcoal-grilled boneless chicken barbecue (salt) ₩22,000

We ordered the charcoal-grilled boneless chicken barbecue (salt) and the charcoal chicken thigh (sauce) to try.

• Charcoal-grilled boneless chicken barbecue, ₩22,000. As soon as the dish arrived, the charcoal smoke aroma rose up pretty strongly. I liked the chicken here specifically because you could really taste that charcoal flavor.

The outside had that smoky flavor really soaked in, but the meat itself was softer than I expected, making it easy to eat. It wasn't mushy at all, and there was a decent chew to it, so I kept reaching for more.

It was good dipped in the sauce that came with it, or fine eaten plain since the seasoning was already sufficient. Personally, I preferred the salt version because you could taste the meat itself better than with the sauced version.

Interestingly, it came with pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), and the pairing was surprisingly great lol.
There were also three types of sauce, and trying each one, they didn't get boring and all tasted good, so I was satisfied.

Charcoal chicken thigh (sauce) ₩24,000 and chi-bap
• Charcoal chicken thigh (sauce), ₩24,000. Personally, of the two dishes that day, I liked this sauced chicken thigh even more. The sauce had a sweet and spicy style that was exactly right for drinking.

It looks spicy because of the chili peppers, but it's not a sauce that's only spicy — there's sweetness alongside it, so it's the kind of flavor that keeps you eating haha.

Wrapping it in a tortilla with vegetables and sauce like this gave it a taco-like feel and also mellowed out the spiciness — it was really tasty.

And since I love doing chi-bap (chicken with rice), the moment I tasted the sauce I started thinking about rice lol. Turns out I'm not the only one — there was an instant rice item on the menu. So I immediately made it into chi-bap. As expected, the sauce went great with rice lol.
Chicken thigh isn't just a soft cut — it has a chewy texture the more you bite into it. That texture paired really well with the charcoal aroma, which made this dish even more satisfying.
Verdict: a Sangsu bar good for group visits
For anyone looking for a spacious outdoor bar in Hongdae, Kkoko Land seems like a pretty good choice. As a Hongdae outdoor bar, the space was wide and comfortable, making it great for group visits, but it also worked well for a casual drink with friends or for enjoying the atmosphere on a date.
If you're specifically looking for a Sangsu bar to visit with a group near Hongdae, or craving chicken packed with charcoal aroma, this place is worth a visit haha. Next time I visit with more people, I'd like to order a few more of the other charcoal chicken menu items. If you want to sit in a nice-atmosphere outdoor spot in Hongdae with chicken and a drink, this well-known Hongdae chicken spot 'Kkoko Land' might be worth checking out!
