Sinjung-dong Chinese restaurant with 66 seats: Jjambbong Jijon

I'd seen a post about Punghyangjung recently and suddenly craved jjamppong, which is how I ended up at Jjambbong Jijon. Different location, but same famous Bucheon jjamppong spot — I visited the Jung-dong branch.

What is the dining room like at Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong Branch?

This Sinjung-dong jjamppong spot has a spacious dining room, great for lunch or dinner. Where most Chinese restaurants go dim and moody, Jjambbong Jijon is decked out in a wide cafe-style interior — perfect for a nice weekend meal, and great for nearby office workers dropping by at lunchtime too.

Since this is the kind of food that's often delivered, I was surprised to see drinks, water and coffee set out specifically for delivery drivers. The self-bar was neatly run too, and it cracked me up that a place famous for spicy jjamppong keeps cheongyang chili right there on the self-bar haha.

Parking and the jjamppong spice levels

This Sinjung-dong favorite offers 1 hour of free parking at the public lot right out front, and through a Naver receipt review event you can get a free drink or dumplings added to your order.

Here's the menu — jjamppong starts at basic spice and goes up from Hell level 1 to level 5 and beyond. What surprised me is that for level 5 and above you actually have to call a staff member over before you can order it haha.

Ordering jjajangmyeon, jjamppong and a small sichuan tangsuyuk

After some deliberation we picked one jjajangmyeon and one jjamppong, plus a small sichuan tangsuyuk. I liked that the pickled radish came individually packaged, and each table had its own chili flakes, soy sauce and vinegar handy for the meal.

The self-bar had pickled radish, jajai pickles, rice, water, mung bean sprouts, cheongyang chili and more, plus kids' spoons and forks — really convenient for anyone visiting with children.

Neither of us handles spicy food that well, so we both went with basic spice, and I was surprised that even the tangsuyuk allows for spice adjustment. Best of all, I heard Jjambbong Jijon uses 100% domestic sun-dried chili powder instead of artificial capsaicin, which is apparently why so many people come here — you can enjoy the heat without the stomach burn!

How do the basic-spice jjamppong and jjajangmyeon taste?

The basic jjajangmyeon tasted just like a really good jjajangmyeon should, and the jjamppong at basic spice level delivers all the flavor you'd want too.

On top of that, all the seafood came in cleanly with the shells removed, so you never have to fish out shells while eating — such a convenient touch.

For the sichuan tangsuyuk, you can choose between glutinous rice tangsuyuk and the signature Jijon tangsuyuk — one chewy, one crispy, so you can pick whichever texture you're in the mood for.

The self-bar also has free extra rice, so we debated between jjajangbap (rice with black bean sauce) and jjajangmyeon and ended up choosing noodles — though honestly the portions were so generous we didn't even need to add anything and still left completely full haha.

The complimentary fried dumplings were crispy outside and moist inside, with a slight spicy hint mixed in — tasty either way depending on your taste.

After-meal coffee and the delivery driver drink corner

After finishing our meal, there's coffee, drinks and candy for a nice palate cleanser. It's great for dine-in guests and delivery drivers alike — clearly set up with lots of different people in mind, and I really appreciated that level of care.

This Bucheon jjamppong favorite has 66 seats total, making it great for family gatherings or a company lunch, and thanks to the nature of the menu it's just as comfortable for solo dining. If you like spicy food, you can dial the heat up exactly to your taste, and if you're like us and can't handle much spice but are always on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant, I'd still recommend a visit.

And if you happen to spill something on your clothes while enjoying your meal — a quick wipe! There's a cloth ready for exactly that. Such a nice touch 🧡

The public parking lot right out front is huge, and the underground lot is easy to use too, so if you're looking for great jjamppong in Bucheon, this place should leave you more satisfied than most others around.

The address is 244 Jungdong-ro, 111ho, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. If you're driving, the public lot right in front makes things much easier — highly recommend it! With a menu that people of all ages love and all these thoughtful little touches, this is a great pick if you're after a genuinely friendly restaurant.
