Kid-approved tteokgalbi near Sejong Lake Park: Bapkkot Hansang

In short

Bapkkot Hansang is a Korean restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building on Doum8-ro in Sejong, near Sejong Lake Park and Sejong Arboretum. The writer booked a table through Naver Reservation and ordered the Bapkkot Special for two with a child: a first course of tofu, savory pancake, seasoned mushrooms and boiled pork, then a second course of rice, banchan, gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste dip), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and homemade tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), which the child, normally no fan of meat, finished off. With high chairs and baby dishware on hand, Bapkkot Hansang works well for kids and adults eating the same Korean spread.

How to book Bapkkot Hansang on Naver Reservation

We booked ahead through Naver Reservation! I'd definitely recommend doing the same. Since Bapkkot Hansang only has a set number of tables, quite a few people end up waiting.

So going a bit earlier, or after the main meal rush... haha, might be a good idea if you want to avoid the crowds!

Why Bapkkot Hansang is easy with kids: high chairs and baby dishware

They're thoughtful enough to have high chairs and baby dishware ready haha. Maybe because it's near the lake park, Bapkkot Hansang is also popular as a meeting spot and outing restaurant in Sejong — a real go-to Korean restaurant near Sejong Arboretum and Sejong Lake Park.

Bapkkot Hansang serves up a happy meal made with healthy ingredients! Every dish, made from scratch, had a mild, wholesome flavor rather than anything sharp or overly seasoned haha.

What arrives with the Bapkkot Special for two

The Bapkkot Special is Bapkkot Hansang's course meal — apparently meant for hosting guests or special gatherings with important people haha. A lovely meal to have at this go-to Korean restaurant near Sejong Arboretum and Sejong Lake Park~~

The course came out in two rounds at Bapkkot Hansang~

First course of the Bapkkot Special spread

Every dish was generous in portion yet mild in flavor, letting the natural taste of the ingredients shine — that's Bapkkot Hansang, a favorite near Sejong Arboretum and Sejong Lake Park!

After the first course of tofu, pajeon (savory pancake), seasoned mushrooms and boiled pork, the second course brought rice, banchan (side dishes), and gangdoenjang plus doenjang jjigae and tteokgalbi~

Homemade tteokgalbi with a satisfying chew

The tteokgalbi was so good!!! Being handmade, it really had an outstanding texture to bite into. And there wasn't a hint of gamey meat smell — a real must-try for tteokgalbi near Sejong Arboretum and Sejong Lake Park at Bapkkot Hansang!

I get why customers keep coming back haha. It was such a delicious, healthy meal that I'd want to try the rice bowls next time too — that's the Bapkkot Special at Bapkkot Hansang.

A Korean spread that suits both children and adults

Our kid ate so happily and well that I felt genuinely proud — Bapkkot Hansang, a Sejong favorite! It's a Korean restaurant both kids and adults love, which is why so many families with young children come, along with folks bringing along their elders... Being loved across so many age groups is proof it's a place worth trusting!

Still thinking about that tteokgalbi ㅠㅠ Our kid usually avoids meat, but ate the tteokgalbi so happily — I was so proud haha.

And the gangdoenjang wasn't salty~ Usually it's salty enough that you eat only small amounts, but this one wasn't too salty even with a big spoonful, so we could enjoy plenty of the hearty bits too.

Then there was the doenjang jjigae, tasting like homemade soybean paste... Not a single dish fell flat, and everything from the choice of ingredients to how the dishes paired together was excellent — Bapkkot Hansang near Sejong Arboretum and Sejong Lake Park~~ The single-dish menu is apparently popular too haha, so I'm planning to go back and try the rice bowls from that menu!
