My first impression walking in was 'wow, this is really clean!' The facilities are as well-kept as a brand-new place, and the generous space between tables makes it perfect for group gatherings or family meals. The layout is also easy to navigate with a stroller or a baby in tow, so parents can visit without stress. I'd booked ahead on Naver, and they had already set up a window seat for us 🩷

What we ordered: the spicy Italy Shabu Kalguksu

We ordered the spicy flavor Italy Shabu Kalguksu. The set comes with kalguksu plus fried rice, and just looking at the menu made me feel full already... And the house-made kimchi was so good we refilled it three whole times.

Kiosk with instructions on how to enjoy shabu-shabu

Nice touch — the kiosk even has instructions on how to enjoy shabu-shabu. I joined the review event and got 3 pieces of fish cake (odeng) as a service 🍢

How is the spicy broth and the fresh shabu-shabu beef?

The shabu kalguksu finally arrived! 🥹 I took a sip of the broth first and it was even spicier and deeper in flavor than I expected. It's a clean, spicy broth that really clears your head, and I never got tired of it while picking out meat and vegetables. And here's the biggest perk of this place — unlimited refills on kalguksu noodles and ramyeon noodles! Boiling the kalguksu noodles in the spicy broth let them soak up all the flavor, and it was amazing. I even added ramyeon noodles on top and ate until I was completely stuffed. ❤️

Hand-made dumplings and potato dumpling soup add-ons

Hand-made dumplings, potato dumpling soup (gamja ongsimi), and all kinds of vegetables — the add-ons were seriously generous.

And house-made fresh noodles too!! 😀

Unlimited noodle refills, house-made kimchi and the fried rice finish

You absolutely can't skip fried rice after shabu-shabu and kalguksu! Once you've fully enjoyed the noodle add-ons, it's time for the unmissable K-dessert: fried rice! No matter how full you are, everyone knows there's always room for fried rice. We wrapped up with a savory, delicious fried rice that had soaked up all the broth flavor.

One of the biggest draws of Italy Shabu Kalguksu is definitely the unlimited refills on kalguksu noodles and ramyeon noodles! At most shabu kalguksu places, the noodle portion always feels a bit lacking, but here you can refill as much as you want — a huge advantage. And the house-made kimchi, made fresh every morning, was so good I kept going back for more, haha...

Puffed rice snacks and the stamp card at Italy Shabu Kalguksu

After a spicy, savory meal, that crunchy, nutty puffed rice snack (ppeongtwigi) was the perfect palate cleanser dessert. Adults can enjoy it as a nostalgic treat, and the kids who came with us loved it too — a thoughtful touch. We each finished the meal happily with a piece of puffed rice in hand.

They even stamped our card! I'll keep collecting and try the pajeon (scallion pancake) next time 💚
