Sejong date-night hanjeongsik, royal court tteokbokki: Bapkkot Hansang

Wanted a Korean meal for a date in Sejong, so I went looking and found Bapkkot Hansang 🌿

If you're looking for somewhere to eat near Sejong Lake Park or Sejong Arboretum, this is a good spot to pair with either!

The thing I liked most right away was that there's parking in the same building! No stress about where to park, haha.

What does Bapkkot Hansang look like inside?

Bapkkot Hansang is on the 3rd floor of the Sejongmachi building.

Take the elevator up and you'll find it right away — the moment you walk in, it feels really clean and neat. The wood-tone interior gave it a warm feeling too, and the tables were spaced out pretty generously.

There are partitioned seats and space for larger groups, so it seemed like a good fit not just for dates but for family meals or gatherings too.

Bapkkot Hansang menu: the ₩50,000 Bapkkot Special for two

We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we ordered the Bapkkot Special for two (₩50,000)!

🍽️ The Bapkkot Special arrives course by course

The food didn't all arrive at once — it came out in stages, one after another, so it felt like eating a Korean course meal.

From the start, tofu kimchi, jeon (savory pancakes), japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), salad, boiled pork, and various side dishes came out one by one — the variety was genuinely impressive.

Overall, everything was clean and delicious!

🍄 Royal court tteokbokki, the surprise favorite

And the dish that genuinely surprised me was the royal court tteokbokki (gungjung tteokbokki)! At first I figured it was just a regular tteokbokki that comes with a Korean set meal, but it was way tastier than expected once I tried it. There were mushrooms in it, and they had this almost meaty flavor to them.

It leaned more toward letting the ingredients' natural flavor come through rather than being aggressively salty or sweet, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

🥩 Tteokgalbi that makes you finish every grain of rice

And finally, the main dish arrived!

The tteokgalbi (grilled minced beef patty) came out bigger than I expected, and it was genuinely delicious…🥹🫢 Moist and tender, with seasoning that was just the right balance of sweet and savory — the kind of thing that makes you wipe out a whole bowl of rice.

And above all, the minari (water dropwort) fragrance was amazing. Eating the tteokgalbi together with the minari added this fragrant note that I personally loved as a combination.

It's the kind of flavor that stays with you — even now, writing this, I want more tteokgalbi ㅠㅠ

🍚 Gangdoenjang and doenjang jjigae to end the meal

With the tteokgalbi and gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste dip) as the main dishes, plus rice, namul (seasoned vegetables), and various side dishes, it felt like a proper full meal!

The gangdoenjang was packed with mushrooms and vegetables, and it was great for mixing into rice.

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) came out alongside it too, and eating it with rice and side dishes was exactly the kind of neat, well-put-together Korean spread I'd imagined. Everything, dish by dish, was tasty overall, so nothing felt like an afterthought.

I went there wanting good Korean food for a date, and I left satisfied because everything was delicious overall✨ The tteokgalbi in particular was good enough that I want it again, and the royal court tteokbokki really stuck with me too.
