Eojin-dong kalguksu restaurant in Sejong: Italy Shabu Kalguksu
In short
Italy Shabu Kalguksu Sejong Eojin Branch is a Korean shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Taehan Press Center in Eojin-dong, Sejong. A couple visited on a weekend and ordered the Italy Six-Ingredient Shabu Kalguksu (spicy) at 13,800 won and the Jeonju-style Loaded Seafood Pajeon at 15,000 won, then finished the course with kalguksu noodles and fried rice. Weekday lunches fill up because the Sejong Government Complex is nearby, but on weekends the basement parking is wide open and the terrace is a good place to sit after the meal.

Here's my review of Italy Shabu Kalguksu, a Korean restaurant in Eojin-dong, Sejong! The kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) set comes out so well-loaded that I really have to recommend it.

Where to park, and why weekends are easier

Italy Shabu Kalguksu Sejong Eojin Branch is on the 3rd floor of the building right next to Homeplus. The entrance is right there as soon as you step off the elevator, so it's easy to find!

The menu is posted outside too, so you can check it before going in.

Since the government complex is right nearby, it seems like a lot of civil servants come here. Basement parking is available, and since I visited on a weekend the parking lot was super roomy. Sejong being what it is, the areas around the government complex or city hall get crowded on weekdays, so weekend visitors can come without any worries!
Inside the restaurant: self-serve bar and dog-friendly seating

The inside of Italy Shabu Kalguksu in Sejong's Eojin-dong was really spacious. The inner seats are a bit more private, so they'd be great for group gatherings. I saw people with dogs eating there! (Though the dog has to stay inside a bag!)

Each shabu kalguksu order comes with a full table spread, so anyone age 8 or older needs to order their own shabu.

There are aprons on one side too, so help yourself if you need one!
There's a self-serve bar near the entrance. Kimchi comes as a basic side, while cabbage and macaroni are there for anyone who wants them. You're supposed to eat the cabbage with kiwi sauce drizzled on top, and it's so good — you have to try it.
Extra broth is also self-serve from the bar. There were plenty of small plates too, which was great for families with kids who could use as many as they needed.
Menu and prices: what we ordered

The main menu item at Italy Shabu Kalguksu in Sejong's Eojin-dong is the shabu kalguksu! It's 13,800 won per person, and it comes with hand-made dumplings, pork neck, potato dumplings, a vegetable-mushroom platter, kalguksu noodles, and vegetable porridge — totally worth the price.
You can add extra ingredients to the shabu kalguksu, and the noodles are unlimited refills!

We came specifically for the kalguksu, so here's what we ordered.
- Italy Six-Ingredient Shabu Kalguksu (spicy)
- Jeonju-style Loaded Seafood Pajeon
How the Jeonju-style Loaded Seafood Pajeon tasted

The food came out right after we ordered! Let me review each dish one by one.

✔️ Jeonju-style Loaded Seafood Pajeon (seafood pancake), 15,000 won. Can you see the smiley face made with chili peppers on top of the pajeon? So cute!!! Even from the look of it, you could tell there was plenty of squid and shrimp, so I had high expectations.

My husband cut it up nicely for us to eat piece by piece, and it turned out to be pretty thick.

The pajeon wasn't super crispy — more like somewhere between crispy and moist, which makes it good for everyone, young and old. It was packed full of green onion and seafood, so the texture was great too.
Italy Six-Ingredient Shabu Kalguksu (spicy): the verdict

✔️ Italy Six-Ingredient Shabu Kalguksu (spicy), 13,800 won. The shabu kalguksu comes out in a pot filled to the brim — isn't the presentation gorgeous?
Once it starts boiling, the first thing you should eat is the pork neck! It wasn't tough at all and had no gamy smell, and dipped in soy sauce it just melted in my mouth. I'd highly recommend eating it together with the cabbage!
There were also dumplings and potato dumplings — the dumplings were packed full of filling, and the potato dumplings had such a nice chewy texture that I wanted to steal my husband's too...
The real star of shabu kalguksu is the broth! I'm a broth fanatic, and this broth totally won me over! It was spicy yet had a refreshing edge, so I kept diving in for more spoonfuls.

Ending the course with house-made kalguksu noodles and fried rice
Now let's try the shabu kalguksu's "dessert" course, one dish at a time!

✔️ Kalguksu noodles. It said the noodles were hand-made in house, so I had high hopes — and wow, they really are different!

I was enjoying it so much I forgot to take a photo, ha. The noodles were chewy yet soft at the same time, and paired perfectly with the shabu kalguksu broth.

✔️ Fried rice. Now it was time to whip up fried rice with carrots, cabbage, and green onion. They cracked an egg right into it, and my husband insisted on making it himself. Once the egg was mixed in, the texture changed and it got a bit more porridge-like.

I tried it once the broth had reduced down and it took on a fried-rice texture, and honestly, this is basically K-dessert! Since the kalguksu broth is so tasty to begin with, this went down just as smoothly.

Soft-serve ice cream machine and the terrace
On our way out, I noticed an ice cream machine. That's probably the kids' favorite corner, right? You can put it in a cup or on top of a rice cracker — and the crackers are heart-shaped! You could really tell the owner had a sense of humor.
Italy Shabu Kalguksu in Sejong's Eojin-dong also has an outdoor terrace. A lot of people were sitting there resting after their meal. The weather was so nice that day, I would have regretted it if we hadn't gone out!

Mild or spicy broth, and the best time to visit
At Italy Shabu Kalguksu in Sejong, you can choose between mild and spicy broth. Personally, I'd recommend the spicy one! It's got a kick along with a savory depth that I think everyone would like.
I heard weekday lunchtimes get really crowded, so for family meals I'd recommend going on a weekend evening or a weekday evening instead.
