Mango café in Jocheon, Jeju: ₩49,000 bingsu for two at Lala Cafe

In short

Lala Cafe is a Jeju fresh apple mango specialty café on Namjo-ro in Jocheon-eup, Jeju City. The Jeju fresh apple mango bingsu for two (₩49,000, about 2 apple mangoes) and an iced americano made with Fritz beans (₩5,500) were eaten in three stages: the fresh mango on its own, then spooned up with the milk ice, and finally mixed with mango purée and condensed milk. I had such a fun time traveling around Jeju. While hunting for good food, I found a truly delicious apple mango bingsu (shaved ice dessert). More Jeju spots to come, keep an eye out!

I love mango bingsu so much I've tried it all over, but this was the place where the mango melted the second it hit my mouth, with intense sweetness spreading through.

What the inside of Lala Cafe looks like

Inside Lala Cafe with wide table spacing

Lala Cafe is close to eastern Jeju attractions like Ecoland, Sangumburi, and Saryeoni Forest Trail, making it a great stop during a road trip.

The space was clean and pleasant, with generous spacing between tables — comfortable for a short rest.

The tables are spacious and the store itself is roomy enough to comfortably fit a large family group!

There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere in the store. You could really tell the owner has a tidy personality, haha.

The restroom matters at a café too, right? It was kept spotless, making this a perfect stop for a break during a long drive.

Lala Cafe display case using Theme Farm apple mangoes

They bring in apple mangoes directly from a mango-famous theme farm, so there were quite a few mango-related menu items.

There's mango cake too, and sweet apple mango jelly, which seemed perfect to snack on one at a time during Jeju's many road trips.

With americano, lattes, and misutgaru coffee also on offer, people of all ages can find something to enjoy.

Bakery display case at Lala Cafe

Lala Cafe also had a wide variety of bakery items, so it was fun picking out a dessert!

Even the sliced bread is individually packaged, great for a quick pickup on the go.

Being individually wrapped means you don't need to use tongs to grab it — hygienic and nice.

There's also 100% tangerine and hallabong pressed juice, perfect for going with kids.

It's kind of boring to just have coffee at a café, right? Haha, at least for me.

Desserts at Lala Cafe to pair with coffee

There's quite a lot of bakery items, so it's a great spot for coffee time.

Wide variety of breads at Lala Cafe

There were more varieties of bread than I expected, so picking a menu item took some real deliberation, haha.

If you eat the pretzel meringue without thinking, you'll polish off a whole tub in an instant. Goes great with coffee, haha.

How much mango is in the ₩49,000 bingsu for two?

Jeju fresh apple mango bingsu for two at Lala Cafe

Lala Cafe's signature dish is the Jeju fresh apple mango bingsu. That day I ordered the fresh mango bingsu for two at ₩49,000 and an iced americano at ₩5,500.

  • Fresh Mango Bingsu (for 2): ₩49,000
  • Fresh Mango Hot-Pot Bingsu (for 4): ₩69,000
  • Iced Americano: ₩5,500

The size-for-2 comes with about 2 apple mangoes, and the size-for-4 has about 3.5. That's generous.

Once I checked the amount of fresh mango going in, I understood exactly what it meant to say they don't skimp.

Tree-ripened fresh apple mango, not frozen

I tried the mango on its own first, and the moment it hit my mouth, sweet juice spread through and it melted softly.

Mango purée and condensed milk served alongside the bingsu
Mango purée and condensed milk come on the side.

They use apple mangoes grown on the same farm that supplies famous hotels, and the owner personally checks the fruit to select only well-ripened mangoes.

There's no syrup at all in the fresh mango bingsu. The mango purée served on the side, according to the owner, is the best apple mango purée with the highest mango content he could find.

Bingsu piled high with fresh apple mango

The amount of mango going into a single bowl of bingsu is substantial, and they don't hold back on the good stuff

Thickly cut pieces of apple mango

— you can really feel this is a place that's serious about mango bingsu.

A spoonful of fresh apple mango

The first bite is best enjoyed as pure, unadorned apple mango flavor, haha.

Adding mango purée and condensed milk halfway through

Once you've picked out a good amount of the mango, you can add mango purée and condensed milk to taste over the remaining milk ice.

Pouring mango purée over milk ice

Adding mango purée to the soft milk ice brings a bright, intense mango scent, and a light drizzle of condensed milk brings out a sweet, nutty richness.

At first, you eat just the fresh mango, then in the middle you scoop mango and milk ice together

A spoonful mixing mango and milk ice together

and finally you mix in purée and condensed milk — a single bingsu that lets you enjoy several different flavors.

Close-up of Theme Farm apple mango

That Theme Farm apple mango was seriously delicious! It was so good I even took a close-up shot of the mango, haha.

At a Seoul hotel, this would easily cost over ₩100,000, but I got to enjoy bingsu made with the same mango, to my heart's content, in Jeju, haha.

The iced americano with Fritz beans at Lala Cafe

Iced americano made with Fritz Coffee beans

The owner is serious about coffee too, using beans from Fritz Coffee, one of Seoul's top three coffee roasters, haha.

After the mango bingsu, I washed it down with a Fritz iced americano, haha.

Even the size-for-2 was generous enough to include about 2 apple mangoes, which I really appreciated. If you're looking for fresh apple mango bingsu in Jeju, not the frozen kind, go check out Lala Cafe!

And my Jeju food tour continues, haha.
