In short

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a western restaurant two minutes from Hyehwa Station Exit 4 in Jongno, Seoul, best known for its rubber duck omurice. Walking in at 5pm on a weekday, I ordered the Omil Steak at 37,900 won, the Chit-chit-chit! Rubber Duck Omurice at 16,900 won and the Oh! Pineapple Ade at 6,900 won, and the dining room was full by around 5:30pm. The rubber duck and its tube on the plate come home with you, so both the look and the meal were satisfying.

While looking for cute-looking western food in Daehangno, I ended up at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno! Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a western restaurant famous for its rubber duck omurice (omelette rice). With various menu items like pasta and omurice, it seemed like a great spot for a Daehangno date or a meal with friends~

Whenever I'm around Hyehwa, I tend to scope out good restaurants beforehand, and this time I was curious about the rubber duck omurice that catches your eye just from the visuals.

Walk up about 2 minutes from Hyehwa Station Exit 4 and Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is unmistakable!! The sign out front already shows off the cute rubber duck omurice. There's plenty to do nearby too — gacha shops, coin karaoke, clothing stores, cafés, an arcade — so you could easily build a Daehangno date course around it. Head up to the 2nd floor and you'll see cute menu posters on the wall.

From the entrance itself, it's just yellow, yellow, so cute 💛 Went right in!

What the room and seating are like at 5pm on a weekday

I went into Omil Hyehwa Daehangno around 5pm on a weekday, and by about 5:30pm it was suddenly full...! It's more popular than I expected. Inside, the space felt clean and neat overall. The tables weren't packed too tightly either, so it seemed fine for a meal with friends or a Daehangno date!

I imagine a lot of people stop by before or after plays or performances in Hyehwa, so if you want a more relaxed meal, an earlier visit might be better~ We sat at a two-person table right next to the kitchen. It was decorated with little cute props, so the seat itself felt adorable haha 💛

Water and pickles were free to use at the self-service bar, and there was also phone charging available, which was nice while eating~

There was also a review event going on~? For ordering, you just unlock your phone and tap it near the corner of the table, and the Omil Hyehwa Daehangno menu pops right up haha. If it doesn't show up right away, there's a QR code next to it you can scan with your camera instead!

Wait, haha, isn't it super cute that the pineapple ade actually comes in a pineapple-shaped cup? You just stir it gently with the stick and drink — and it was more delicious than I expected! It had that fresh, popping tartness, and I almost ordered a second one,,🍍

Right after the pineapple ade came the Omil steak! It's said to be the signature main dish — a moist skirt steak cooked gently sous-vide, served with red wine sauce. It came piled with tomatoes, kkwarigochu (shishito-like peppers), and french fries, which I always love. The fries stayed crispy until the very last bite, so I ate them so happily haha. The steak wasn't tough at all — soft and easy to eat bite by bite~

The rubber duck omurice grabbed my attention the moment it landed on the table. The rubber duck sitting on top of the dish and the overall visual were so cute I couldn't not take pictures~ The omurice itself had soft eggs with rice and sauce built right in, easy to eat bite by bite. Even each quail egg had eyes and a mouth drawn on it — you could really feel the staff's care put into it!!

The cute plating lifted my mood even before I started eating haha. And they said we could take the rubber duck and tube on the plate home with us ㅠㅠ🐤 Thank you, boss 💛
