Halal Steaks is a Hongdae restaurant where you can try the kind of food made famous by New York street food carts like Halal Guys, right here in Korea. It's huge in the US but still pretty unfamiliar in Korea, so I was a little worried going in — but it wasn't greasy at all and was genuinely delicious 👍

It's rice-based with a lot of meat, so it's the kind of flavor anyone could like 🍖 Alright, let's get into the review~~~

The 2nd-floor space at Halal Steaks has regular tables and window seats where you can eat while looking outside 🌞 With the weather being nice lately, the window seats were pretty popular ☁️

There are chargers ready to use, and ice too — you can scoop it yourself 🧊

The Halal Steaks combo platter comes with rice, two kinds of meat, two pieces of tortilla, and sauce drizzled on top 🥙 The rice looked like a fluffy imported variety rather than Korean rice 🍚 Mixed lightly with the sauce, it was so good 🥄

I was worried since I can't handle greasy food, but it truly wasn't greasy at all — slightly spicy and nutty, and really tasty ❤️ Lots of veggies and meat too, so the carb-protein-fat balance was great 👍 The white sauce is the real special part — how do I even describe the taste... 🤔 Slightly sweet and nutty, kind of like it lifts up the flavor of the meat, haha 🍖

Are the shrimp rings at Halal Steaks worth ordering?

The Halal Steaks shrimp rings come with 4 pieces and chili sauce ✨️ Another blogger said you absolutely have to order the shrimp rings, so I did — and they were genuinely delicious, highly recommend 🍤

Freshly fried, hot and crispy, absolutely delicious 👍

Washed it down with a zero-calorie cola~🥤 At least drinking zero helps ease the calorie guilt a bit!! 🤣

I asked for a container to pack the leftovers, but once it was all packed up I wanted to eat it again, so I just finished it all. My hands just wouldn't stop ~~!!!🖐🖐🖐 I'm heading to Canada soon, and I think my taste buds might actually be into foreign food more than I expected~ 😆
