Soufflé pancakes — I love them so much. I'd been craving them again lately, and it happened I had a bit of free time in the middle of the day, so I headed to a café near Hapjeong Station.

Where is Petrico, and can you park there?

Petrico, a café near Hapjeong Station, is 500m from Exit 2 — I got off at the Seogyo-dong bus stop and it was a short walk from there. Parking is relatively easy on weekends and holidays, first-come first-served. On weekdays it's not available before 6pm, but from 6pm onward you can park first-come, first-served during business hours — good news for anyone looking for a Hongdae or Hapjeong café with parking. Just note that if the lot is full, you'll need to use a nearby paid lot (parking fee is not covered).

Petrico apparently refers to the subtle scent that rises from soil after rain — a name that suits the café's mood and feel perfectly. :)

Fruit soufflé and americano: the plate after a 20–30 minute wait

A little while later, my soufflé and coffee came out.

When ordering, you can choose whether to get the coffee first or bring it out together with the pancake — I chose together. Petrico's soufflé pancakes are baked one by one after each order, and take about 20–30 minutes for that soft, puffed-up texture, so if you're planning to order a soufflé, it's good to go in with some time to spare.

The americano, made with nutty beans

Americano ₩5,000

You can choose between nutty, acidic, or decaf (+₩1,000) beans. I usually drink coffee on the acidic side, but nutty coffee tends to pair better with sweet desserts, so I went with nutty. It matched the pancake well, and the coffee came in a generous amount, which I liked. 🙂☕

Soft and fluffy soufflé ♥

The fruit lineup was crisp sugar-coated brûlée banana along with blueberries, kiwi, and orange. 🍊🥝🍌

At first I just dipped it in the whipped cream, but once I poured on the maple syrup too, it got even more moist and delicious. :)

It's so soft that cutting it with a knife can squish it a bit haha. The flavor seems like it might use a bit more egg than other places?
