Daeheung Station Chinese restaurant for solo jjamppong-bap: Sujeoga
In short
Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Sungmun-gil near Daeheung Station in Mapo, Seoul. The jjamppong-bap (spicy seafood soup with rice) at Sujeoga comes with flat glass-noodle-like strands mixed in with the rice, and the garlic tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) is piled with minced garlic over a rich sauce. It made a filling solo lunch for a day when only spicy broth over rice would do.

What kind of place is Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch?
Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch is a Chinese restaurant near Daeheung Station at 7-1 Sungmun-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It's open 10:30-21:00 with a break time from 14:30-16:00, last order is 20:00, and reservations can be made by phone. I was looking for somewhere to eat lunch near Daeheung Station and ended up here this time.

I was craving Chinese food and looked it up, and once I got there the menu turned out to have way more variety than I expected, so I had to think for a bit about what to order haha.

When you think of a Chinese restaurant, the basics come to mind — jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, fried rice, and then tangsuyuk or other dishes — and this place had the full lineup, from staple noodle dishes to various other menu items.

Free side dishes and drinks at Sujeoga
For basic sides at Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch, you get pickled radish and onion, plus a sweet green plum drink and a chilled pear drink on the house~~ Since they have both noodle dishes and cooked dishes on the menu, it seemed good for a quick solo bowl, or for a group to order something like tangsuyuk to share. After looking over the menu, I ended up ordering jjamppong-bap and garlic tangsuyuk that day.

Jjamppong-bap: spicy broth with rice and flat noodles
Jjamppong-bap!!!!!!!!!!! After a short wait, it arrived first. As you can see in the photo, the broth is quite dark and red. Just looking at it, it screams spicy! Inside were onions, various vegetables, mushrooms, and along with the rice were flat noodles like glass noodles.

It's called jjamppong-bap, but it's not just rice —

— there are these glass-noodle-like flat noodles mixed in too, which was a nice surprise haha. The broth was spicy but had a slight sweetness from the vegetables, and it was exactly the kind of soup you want to pour rice into. There was quite a lot of onion in there, which paired really well with the broth. And those flat noodles soak up the broth, so lifting them with chopsticks, you get a hit of the broth flavor along with them.
You know those days when you want a bowl of jjamppong but you're craving rice more than noodles? This jjamppong-bap would be perfect for that.

Garlic tangsuyuk: minced garlic in every bite
And then the garlic tangsuyuk, which looked seriously impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crispy fried pork topped generously with a rich sauce, and over that, a good amount of minced garlic. True to its name, this tangsuyuk really hit you with garlic aroma.

The fried pork was crispy, coated in a sweet and rich sauce, so it was tasty even on its own. Add the minced garlic crunch on top, and it's a different experience from your usual sweet tangsuyuk! If you're someone who loves garlic like me, this is a dish worth trying at least once haha.

Is jjamppong-bap plus garlic tangsuyuk a good combo?
A spoonful of jjamppong-bap broth followed by a piece of garlic tangsuyuk — the combo worked well. Spicy broth plus sweet, crispy tangsuyuk had me going back and forth between the two.
If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant near Daeheung Station, Sujeoga Daehung Station Branch is worth a visit. The menu has plenty of noodle dishes and cooked dishes, so it works well for a solo lunch or for a group ordering several things to share. It's also close to Gongdeok, so if you're looking for a Chinese restaurant near Gongdeok, this is worth checking out too!
Especially when you're near the office trying to decide on lunch every day, sometimes you just want a spicy broth over rice, and Chinese food is a solid choice for that kind of Gongdeok lunch haha. This day, with jjamppong-bap and garlic tangsuyuk, I had a pretty hearty lunch. Next time I'll have to try some of the other noodle dishes or cooked dishes on the menu.
