In short
Doteurak is a scalp micropigmentation studio in Gangnam, Seoul. I had a first session to softly fill a hairline I used to hide with bangs, with detailed consultation in a calm space. Verdict: a reassuringly natural first change.

The hairline concern that made me wear bangs
At some point, I noticed that my front hairline had moved upward. I had not paid much attention to it before, but once I started seeing it, I kept noticing it. Naturally, I began wearing my bangs down. It was fine when my bangs were down, but when I swept my hair back or the wind blew, it bothered me again.
So this time, rather than simply covering it, I wanted to fill in the hairline itself a little. That is how I came to visit Doteurak in Gangnam. It was my first time getting scalp micropigmentation, so I was a little nervous before going. But once I stepped inside, the atmosphere was more relaxing than I had expected.
Why I looked into hairline scalp micropigmentation

Scalp micropigmentation was not the first thing I thought of. One day, I looked in the mirror and felt that my front hairline looked different from before. I wondered, “Was it always like this?” and even found myself checking old photos. The upper part definitely concerned me more than it used to.

That was when I started wearing my bangs down. But after constantly hiding it, I wanted to look for another option. I searched around and learned about hairline scalp micropigmentation. I did not want a dramatic transformation. I just wanted my hairline to look a little more naturally filled in than it did then.
Doteurak location and hours
The place I visited was Doteurak. The address is 4th floor, 12 Eonju-ro 172-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Its listed hours are 10 AM to 8 PM. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Visits are by reservation, so I booked ahead.
The atmosphere when I first walked in

When I first walked in, I liked the atmosphere more than I expected. It felt a little like being at a Southeast Asian resort. Rather than bright, flashy lighting, the whole space had subdued tones that felt calm.

I tend to like this kind of atmosphere, so I felt a little more at ease. The reclining sofa also caught my eye. When you are getting scalp micropigmentation for the first time, I think that sense of comfort in the space matters quite a bit. I had walked in feeling nervous for no reason, but seeing the space reassured me a little.
A consultation that felt easy, even for a first-timer

Since it was my first time, I had quite a few questions. More than anything, I wanted to communicate the look I wanted properly. Rather than making my hairline dark and defined, I wanted it to be filled in naturally. We proceeded while discussing that.

The director explained a lot in a gentle, unhurried way. It did not feel rushed at all. Whenever I asked about something, they talked me through it one by one, which was comfortable. They also kept explaining things during the procedure—calmly telling me what they were looking at. For someone receiving it for the first time, that was more reassuring than I expected.
Going for a naturally filled-in look

Then the procedure began in earnest. Since it was my first time, I was naturally a little tense. But the director kept talking to me, and I relaxed as time passed. I did not want it to look too dark. I wanted it to be just naturally filled in from my existing hairline, so I kept describing the look I wanted.
Once it started, the process was more comfortable than I had imagined. Watching the area I had been concerned about being worked on right in front of me also felt strange. I thought, “I am really getting this done.”
Changes after my first hairline scalp micropigmentation session

Naturally, the first thing I looked at afterward was my hairline. To me, it definitely felt more filled in. It was not an enormous change, but the areas that had looked sparse bothered me less than before. I actually liked that feeling, because I wanted a natural change rather than a dramatic one.
Since this was only the first session, I do not think of it as the final result yet. Still, I could feel that the hairline I had kept worrying about had changed. Even when I looked in the mirror with my bangs down, I felt a little more at ease than before.
Why it is important to describe the look you want in consultation

Having it done myself made me realize that the consultation is quite important. At first, I thought it would simply be a matter of filling in the sparse-looking areas. But once we talked, I realized that the kind of result I wanted mattered. I wanted something natural, and I kept mentioning that during the consultation.
The director listened and explained things calmly. They continued talking me through the procedure too, which made it comfortable as a first-timer. I also liked that the space itself was calm, so I felt less tense.
Things I wondered before visiting
Why did you look for scalp micropigmentation in Gangnam?
At some point, my front hairline felt higher than before. I kept wearing my bangs down because of it, and eventually started looking into scalp micropigmentation.
What was the atmosphere like?
To me, it had a Southeast Asian resort-like atmosphere. I liked the subdued lighting and the reclining sofa too.
How was it after the first session?
To me, my hairline felt a little more filled in. Since it was still only the first session, I plan to wait and see how the final result develops.
A small change to the part I used to hide with bangs

At first, I thought it was simply a bangs issue. But at some point, my hairline kept catching my eye. That led me to wear my bangs down, and eventually to look into scalp micropigmentation in Gangnam. After visiting in person, it was a more comfortable experience than I expected.
I liked the Southeast Asian resort-like space and the subdued lighting. The reclining sofa felt comfortable too. Most of all, I liked how gently and thoroughly the director explained things during the consultation. They talked me through the procedure as well, so it felt less intimidating even though it was my first time.
After the first session, my hairline felt more filled in. Since I have only had one session, I will take my time watching how it develops. Still, because this was an area I had kept hiding with bangs, even this small change felt quite significant to me. I will slowly see how it changes from here too. If you have the same concern, I would recommend visiting!!
