Bucheon pork belly — today's story is about a family outing to Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch (참돼짓간 부천신중동점).

These days when I go to a BBQ restaurant, what matters isn't just the taste of the meat — it's whether they grill it for you, whether there's a good variety of sides, and whether it's easy to bring kids. This place ticked all three boxes! The combo of scallion salad + thin potato slices + pork belly was especially memorable. 😋

How to get to Cham Dwaejitgan: 5 minutes on foot from Sinjung-dong Station

The walk to Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch near Sinjung-dong Station

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is barely 5 minutes on foot from Sinjung-dong Station, so it was easy to find.

It's also close enough to walk from the Lotte Department Store side, so it looked fine for a gathering even without a car.

The place looked pretty big from the outside, but it was even more spacious than I expected once we went in.

Spacious interior seating at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch

The tables weren't cramped and there were plenty of seats overall, so it seemed like a good spot not just for family dinners but for Bucheon work dinners or group gatherings too.

What Cham Dwaejitgan keeps on hand, from hair ties to kids' tableware

Even before sitting down, small convenience items at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch caught my eye.

Mouthwash, hair ties and other amenities set out at the restaurant

There was mouthwash, hair ties, floss, and lens cleaning wipes, plus kids' tableware, and even lollipops to enjoy after the meal.

Corner with kids' tableware and lollipops

These are small things on their own, but they're genuinely handy when you actually need them at a BBQ restaurant. Especially for people who worry about smelling like meat smoke, or families visiting with kids, this kind of thoughtful prep is really welcome.

And I loved that there was a restroom inside the store. Sometimes at BBQ restaurants you have to go outside the building or to another floor to find one, but here it's inside and kept clean, which made it easy to bring a child along.

Staff grill the black pork belly for you at the table

We ordered 3 servings of black pork ogyeopsal (160g) at ₩19,000 each, and doenjang jjigae at ₩6,000.

Table setting with the ordered 3 servings of black pork ogyeopsal

Here's the part I liked best — a staff member grills the meat for you.

Staff grilling the ogyeopsal on the tabletop grill

At most BBQ places, someone in your group has to keep flipping the meat to check on it. But here, staff grill it for you, so we could just relax and chat while we waited!

Ogyeopsal cut into easy-to-eat pieces

They also cut it into good-sized pieces ready to eat, which was great.

Thick, golden-browned black pork ogyeopsal

You can tell from the photo alone how thick the meat is, right? The outside was browned nicely while the inside stayed juicy, so it got savory and tender the more you chewed.

Minari, bean sprouts, kimchi and potato grilling together on the pan
They grill the minari, bean sprouts, kimchi + potato + mushrooms for you too.

Even our kid ate more than I expected, haha. When you go to a BBQ restaurant as a family and your kid eats well, that's honestly the most satisfying part. 😆

The real highlight: pa-muchim scallion salad, refilled twice

The meat was delicious, but if you asked me what I remember most about Cham Dwaejitgan...

Close-up of the spicy and tangy scallion salad

It's the pa-muchim (scallion salad)! It went so well with the meat — nicely spicy and tangy, cutting right through the richness of the pork.

In the end... we refilled the scallion salad twice, haha.

The self-bar where you can help yourself to side dishes

Luckily there's a self-bar, so we could just grab more ourselves without calling a staff member. Being able to take as much of the sides as you want without feeling awkward was really nice. With kimchi, bean sprouts, lettuce wraps and more, there was plenty of variety to pair with the meat, and it was fun mixing up the combination bite by bite.

Grill the thin potato slices and eat them with the pork belly

There's also one thing I really want you to try together at Cham Dwaejitgan.

Thin potato slices placed on the grill

Thinly sliced potatoes! You put the potato slices on the grill and cook them until golden. At first I thought, it's just potato, right? But eating it together with the pork belly is genuinely delicious. The crispy-yet-soft potato soaks up the meat's juices, and the texture becomes so much richer. Put meat on a lettuce leaf, add a grilled potato slice, top with scallion salad or minari (water dropwort), and take a bite!

I really recommend this combo. 👍 Personally, it felt like a fun combination unique to Cham Dwaejitgan, which made it even more memorable.

A separate set of sauces for each diner at Cham Dwaejitgan

There were also several kinds of sauces prepared on the table.

Salt, ssamjang and wasabi sauces set out on the table

Salt, ssamjang (thick soybean paste dip), spicy sauce, wasabi — a lineup so everyone can eat to their own taste. What I liked most was that each was set up separately per person.

Individual sauce plates provided per person

Someone likes wasabi, someone likes salt, someone piles on the ssamjang, haha. Everyone can just eat their own way, which made it especially convenient visiting as a group.

Finishing with the spicy doenjang jjigae, 6,000 won

After eating our fill of meat, we finished off by ordering doenjang jjigae (₩6,000).

The doenjang jjigae ordered to finish the meal

Cham Dwaejitgan's doenjang jjigae leans more toward a spicy style with a bit stronger gochujang (red chili paste) flavor rather than the usual mellow, savory doenjang taste.

Broth of the spicy-style doenjang jjigae

After eating meat your mouth feels a bit greasy, but a spoonful of this hot, spicy broth cleans that right up! It went well with rice too, and since I like this kind of spicy style, it was a satisfying way to finish.

Why this Bucheon pork belly dinner with kids is worth repeating

Ogyeopsal and side dishes cooking on the grill

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch isn't just about tasty meat — from the staff grilling service, to the easy self-bar refills, to the thin potato and pork belly combo, to the variety of personal sauces —

Full view of the table set with meat and side dishes

it was a place that just kept feeling easy and comfortable the whole meal. The scallion salad really was so much my taste that we refilled it twice, haha. Our kid ate the meat well, the restaurant was spacious enough for a comfortable family meal, and little touches like the in-store restroom and post-meal lollipops made it feel like they were looking out for guests everywhere.

If you're looking for a pork belly spot near Sinjung-dong Station, especially if you like BBQ restaurants that grill the meat for you, this one's worth a visit. Next time we go, we're planning to load up on potato slices from the start and grab plenty of scallion salad right away too. 😂 We'd definitely go again! ❤️
