Sindorim Korean restaurant for a wedding invite dinner: The Jokbal

In short

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is a jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotter) restaurant in Sindorim-dong, Guro, Seoul, on the first floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio Apartment shopping arcade between Guro and Sindorim stations. Four friends came on a Saturday at 6pm to hand out wedding invitations, waited 15 to 20 minutes, and shared front leg jokbal at 47,000 won, spicy sundubu (soft tofu stew) for 8,500 won as a finisher, two mung bean pancakes for 13,000 won and beer. With a complimentary cold jokbal platter and a spread of side dishes, The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch worked well as a celebration dinner spot.

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is my go-to spot near Guro Station whenever I'm craving jokbal. This time, while figuring out where to meet up for an engagement party celebration, I was craving jokbal so I picked this place. Here's the review after waiting to get a table on a weekend.

How to get to The Jokbal Sindorim from Guro Station, and where to park

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is located roughly midway between Sindorim Station (Line 2) and Guro Station (Line 1). I took a bus from Sindorim Station.

It's walkable from Sindorim Station too, but taking the bus for just one stop drops you right in front, which is convenient. Parking is also available in the building's underground lot, so it's good news for anyone driving!

How long is the wait at 6pm on a Saturday?

We visited at 6pm on a Saturday and the place happened to be full, so we waited a bit. Definitely a Guro Station favorite, haha. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes. This place has a wait even on weekdays, so honestly, that felt pretty reasonable.

  • ✅ Front leg jokbal ₩47,000
  • ✅ Spicy sundubu (dessert) ₩8,500
  • ✅ Mung bean pancakes (2) ₩13,000
  • ✅ Crush ₩5,000
  • ✅ Saero ₩5,000 x2
  • ✅ Terra ₩5,000 x4
  • ✅ Cass ₩5,000 x4

There were four of us, all women, and we ordered the front leg jokbal, the best-seller. We also added spicy sundubu since we figured it'd be nice to have some soup too!

Table set with lettuce wraps and basic side dishes

The lettuce wraps and side dishes came out quickly. The wraps were tasty and the dried radish strips paired perfectly with the jokbal — we finished all of it.

Complimentary taste of cold jokbal

They give you a complimentary cold jokbal (naengchae jokbal) appetizer first. It's free but still comes with 3-4 pieces, and it went really well with the cold vegetable mix. Tangy, refreshing, and delicious! Normally you'd have to order cold jokbal separately, so getting a taste for free was so satisfying.

Beer at 5,000 won each: Crush, Terra and Cass

At The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch, Crush, Saero, Terra, and Cass are all ₩5,000. We had 1 Crush, 2 Saero, 4 Terra, and 4 Cass.

First round of draft Crush beer ordered

We started with Crush first. Cass is normally my favorite, but it was sold out at first, so we couldn't order it until they restocked, and we ordered it after that.

Between the Terra and Cass, it went down so smoothly we ended up drinking a lot. Cass really is the best~!

Front leg jokbal, 47,000 won: how does it taste?

A full spread of glossy front leg jokbal

After a short wait, the front leg jokbal arrived. As you can see in the photo, it was so glossy and shiny — truly the number one jokbal restaurant in Sindorim-dong.

Jokbal wrap topped with dried radish strips and chives

It's delicious dipped in salted shrimp sauce, and just as good wrapped up with dried radish strips and chives.

Jokbal wrapped in young napa cabbage

The young napa cabbage was sweet, so wrapping the jokbal in it was genuinely delicious too.

A plate of collected dried radish strips

One friend liked the dried radish strips so much she kept stockpiling them all to herself, hahaha.

Spicy sundubu to finish, 8,500 won: how spicy is it?

The spicy sundubu came out as our dessert-style closer to the jokbal. I can't handle spicy food that well, but this wasn't too hot — nicely spicy and delicious.

It was packed generously with tofu, and it goes down so easily you just keep eating. Perfect as an anju (drinking snack) with beer or soju — genuinely delicious.

Two mung bean pancakes for 13,000 won

Ordering more jokbal felt like too much food, so while debating what else to get, we settled on the mung bean pancakes.

Two thick, crispy mung bean pancakes

The portion was pretty generous and they were so crispy and delicious. Two full pieces meant a really hearty, thick portion — so good.

Table at the end of the engagement party gathering

The engagement party gathering was a big success too 😜

Verdict: is The Jokbal Sindorim good for a group dinner near Guro Station?

While deciding where to hold our engagement party gathering, it hit me that we should just go to The Jokbal, our regular jokbal spot in Sindorim-dong, so we headed straight there, haha.

Even though it's a busy place with a wait, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the variety of basic side dishes felt like side-dish-tier menu items on their own — very satisfying. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Guro Station or a jokbal spot in Sindorim-dong, I'd recommend giving The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch a try, haha.

Personally, I enjoyed this more than Hwagok Yeongyang Jokbal or Dangsan Herb Jokbal, which are considered two of Seoul's top three jokbal restaurants!
