Noryangjin market sashimi platter for a birthday at home: Ttangkkeut
In short
Ttangkkeut Maeul is a sashimi restaurant at live fish stalls 42 and 43 on the first floor of Noryangjin Fisheries Market in Dongjak-gu, Seoul. This time the writer ordered the Ttangkkeut Maeul assorted sashimi platter, medium size, for 80,000 won (flounder, red seabream, sea bass and salmon) and took it home to serve with birthday seaweed soup, where two people finished every piece. Even as takeout the sashimi stayed moist rather than drying out, so Ttangkkeut Maeul is worth going back to.

This time I packed it to go and ate at home, and again — total satisfaction!!

The sign reads "Live Fish 042, 043 Ttangkkeut Maeul" in big letters. They use two stalls, 42 and 43, so it stands out even more. If you're driving, parking is available too, just so you know — and they even give you a parking discount coupon haha.

Inside Ttangkkeut Maeul: watching the fish sliced to order
If you stand in front of Ttangkkeut Maeul, you can see the staff inside working hard cutting sashimi 🔪 Watching this is surprisingly fun haha.

The tanks have flounder, rockfish, red seabream, even grouper — a bit of everything. The owner is really kind too. I asked all sorts of questions and they explained everything comfortably.

Ttangkkeut Maeul takeout: sauces and spicy fish stew ingredients included
Ttangkkeut Maeul packs everything really neatly 👏 They lay it nicely on a plate, wrap it in plastic wrap, and put it in a blue bag — very tidy! They also load you up with chogochujang (vinegared chili paste), ssamjang (dipping paste), sushi seasoning, and soy sauce. Oh, and if you ask, they'll pack spicy fish stew ingredients for you too 🍲 I skipped it since I was making seaweed soup instead. If you're thinking about taking sashimi to go from Noryangjin Fisheries Market, try the stew too.

How did the medium sashimi platter taste with birthday seaweed soup at home?
The moment I unwrapped it at home, the visual was amazing! Flounder, red seabream, sea bass, and salmon all spread out, and the portion is huge.

There's radish sprouts, ginger, and garlic on top too. First, a piece of white fish 🥢 Chewy but not mushy, just the right bite. Dipped in soy sauce with garlic on top — so good...💕

I dipped the salmon deep in chogochujang, and being fatty, it was also amazingly good 👍 Even as takeout, the sashimi stayed moist instead of drying out. That's exactly what tells you the fish is fresh haha. Two of us ordered just one medium set and truly ate ourselves stuffed. I was worried we'd have leftovers, but we finished it all haha.

Would we go back to Ttangkkeut Maeul, and how to reserve
Ttangkkeut Maeul is a place I went to once and kept coming back to, and once again it didn't disappoint. The owner is kind, the takeout packaging is tidy, and the sashimi quality is great. I'm confidently leaving this here as my recommendation for a Noryangjin sashimi spot, a Noryangjin Fisheries Market sashimi restaurant recommendation.
