Cheonggyecheon Korean restaurant lunch with a baby: Bonghyejane

I went out with my baby toward Cheonggyecheon stream over the weekend :) The weather was nice so we took a walk along the stream, and when it came to lunch, I ended up at Bonghyejane Jubang (봉혜자네주방) nearby. It's close to Jonggak Station so it was easy to get to from the stream, and with a wide range of Korean dishes on the menu, I figured it'd work well for eating with a baby too. In person, the place was clean and the seating was pretty spacious, so it was nice for a lunchtime meal!

Where is Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch, and where do you park?

Bonghyejane Jubang is just a short walk from Jonggak Station Exit 3-1. It's on basement level 2 of Jongno Tower, so once you head into the building and go down, it's easy to find.

Inside, the tables are quite spacious and there's seating for larger groups too, so it seemed like a good spot for a lunch gathering. Parking is available at the Jongno Tower underground lot, and the first 90 minutes are free, which makes it convenient to visit by car.

How baby-friendly is Bonghyejane Jubang at lunch?

We visited with our baby this time, and it was convenient that baby chairs and baby dishware were already set up.

When you order a set meal, rice and side dishes come along with it, and there were baby-friendly options like pumpkin porridge, white kimchi, and gim (dried seaweed), so it was easy to scoop little bits out for the baby along with rice.

Stir-fried octopus set, 16,000 won, mixed with sesame oil

We ordered the octopus stir-fry set and the charcoal bulgogi set — I had the spicy octopus while the baby mostly ate the bulgogi and rice with me.

The octopus stir-fry I ordered had plenty of plump octopus in it, so it had good texture to chew on.

There were vegetables mixed in too, and the sauce itself was tasty, so it was much better mixed with rice than eating the octopus alone. You can choose the spice level — I went with medium, and it was just the right amount of spicy for me.

And there's sesame oil set out at each table — drizzling a bit over the rice and mixing in the octopus stir-fry was perfect!

The perilla soup that came with the octopus set also had a nutty perilla aroma and a smooth broth, so it went well alongside the spicy octopus. The baby ate the perilla soup well too, so I fed it to her with rice :)

Charcoal beef bulgogi set, 14,000 won, the dish the baby ate most

I also tried the charcoal bulgogi set that we ordered for the baby to eat. It had a slightly sweet sauce with a subtle charcoal grilled aroma, and went well with rice.

I cut the meat into small pieces for the baby and gave it to her little by little with rice, and she ate it well haha. Switching between the spicy octopus and a bite of sweet bulgogi was nice for me too, going back and forth between the two flavors.

Why the set meals at Bonghyejane Jubang feel filling

Overall, the set meals came out neatly and it felt like a proper lunch. Since you get more than just the main dish — rice, side dishes, and a soup as well — it seemed like a solid choice for anyone who likes Korean food. Especially with a baby, it can be awkward ordering just one dish, but ordering the octopus stir-fry and bulgogi together like we did worked well for sharing between an adult and a child.

This day, I got to walk along Cheonggyecheon with my baby and have a filling lunch of octopus stir-fry and bulgogi on top of it. With baby chairs and dishware ready and dishes that were easy to share, it ended up being a more comfortable meal than I expected. If you're out around Cheonggyecheon or Jonggak looking for lunch to eat with a baby, Bonghyejane Jubang seems like a good option with its variety of Korean dishes.
