Private room group dinner at a Gangnam Station sashimi spot: Damiseon

I hadn't seen a friend in a while, and we both wanted sashimi — not izakaya-style, but a proper full spread of raw fish. That's how I found Damiseon! If you're looking for a place to eat sashimi near Gangnam Station, this might be worth checking out.

Where is Damiseon Gangnam Station Branch, and what is it like inside?

Damiseon is really just steps from Gangnam Station. Since it's on the opposite side from the busy bar street, it felt a lot quieter. If the usual Gangnam Station bar-street chaos has ever felt like too much, this location might actually be a plus.

Walking in, the ceilings were high and the space felt spacious. The partitions between tables were also pretty tall, so we could talk without worrying much about the next table over.

There were plenty of 4-person tables, plus room-style seating for about 6–8 people, which looked good for a group dinner near Gangnam Station. There were actually a lot of middle-aged customers in the restaurant, and personally, I think that's usually a sign of a genuinely good spot haha.

They also sell Sapporo and Ebisu draft beer. Sounds great for a cold one after work.

They had a promotion going on, and non-alcoholic beer was also available.

Salad and corn mayo are non-negotiable at a sashimi restaurant!! Spike your blood sugar down, then bring it right back up with corn mayo lol.

Clam soup came out too, and the broth was refreshing. Thankful they ladled it out for us.

Mixed sashimi with octopus, abalone and sea squirt

Ta-da!!!! Can you see how fresh the sashimi is? Octopus, abalone, and sea squirt (meongge) came out too, making it a really generous spread. Sashimi alone is great, but there's a special satisfaction to a mixed platter too.

The octopus was moist and tender, and the sea squirt was fresh with no fishy taste.

When I go to a fish market, I always ask them to cut the sashimi thick, and Damiseon's sashimi came out cut generously large with a nice variety, so it was easy to try a bit of everything. I also love wrapping sashimi in lettuce, and I did plenty of that here.

There was also soy-marinated shrimp (saeujang), and as a certified shrimp maniac, I was so happy,, 🤎

Out of everything, eating flounder fin sashimi together with aged kimchi (mukeunji) was genuinely the best combo.

Grilled fish and shrimp tempura fried to order

Grilled fish, one of my favorites, was also included in the set. Grilled fish really is the perfect match with soju.

Fried shrimp came out too, freshly fried, so it was hot and crispy when we ate it. Good enough that I'd want to order it on its own!!

I really love maki rolls, so it was satisfying to have a proper, classic-style maki again after a while. A maki roll loaded with flying fish roe is the perfect way to finish.

Finishing with maeuntang (spicy fish stew)

They kept checking in about when to bring out the spicy fish stew, which I appreciated. There was a lot of fish meat in it, and the broth was spicy enough that I wanted to add ramen noodles lol T.T. From the clam soup at the start, to the spicy stew, to the maki at the end, everything came out in order and was clean-tasting and delicious!!
