Samsong restaurant for braised cutlassfish pots: Jeju Eunhui-ne
In short
Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Jeju-style hangover soup and braised cutlassfish restaurant in Dongsan-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, near Starfield. The boneless braised cutlassfish costs 15,000 won, and an order for two arrived as two individual earthenware pots rather than one shared pan, with a spicy yet slightly sweet broth soaked deep into the potato and radish. Rice is free with one order per person, making Jeju Eunhui-ne a filling stop after a day of shopping.

I'd been craving a spicy cutlassfish stew for a while and was looking for somewhere good nearby when I remembered Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk (제주은희네해장국) Goyang Samsong Branch — I'd eaten there once in Jeju and it was really good, so I decided to check out this branch.
The Dongsan-dong location of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is spacious and clean, and the cutlassfish stew I'd been hoping for delivered on the spicy seasoning I wanted, so it ended up being a satisfying meal. As a well-known spot near Goyang Starfield, it's a great place to fill up after shopping.

A white-toned dining room with a dol hareubang statue
The exterior of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk in Dongsan-dong

The exterior of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch was clean and easy to spot even from a distance. The white-toned storefront made it obvious even from outside that the place is well kept.
I went right before dinner time, and peeking in, there were already quite a few people eating. Since it's a haejangguk (hangover soup) place, it makes sense that people come by any time of day for something quick and simple — lunch or dinner, it seemed to stay busy.

What stood out most was the dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) that seemed to bring a bit of Jeju straight to the entrance. The place looked so tidy from outside that I was already in a good mood walking in.
Inside the restaurant: seating and atmosphere

Inside, the space was fairly large with generous spacing between tables, so it never felt cramped. There were also tables good for solo dining, so I thought it would be nice to come back alone sometime for a quick bowl of haejangguk.
What's on the menu at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk

When you think of Eunhui-ne, you usually think of haejangguk or naejangtang (tripe soup) first. We considered ordering a warm haejangguk too, but ended up going with the cutlassfish stew we'd originally wanted. And since it's the boneless version, it's even easier to eat — a bonus!
Braised cutlassfish, 15,000 won: one earthenware pot per person
We ordered the cutlassfish stew at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch for ₩15,000, two portions. The side dishes were simple, as you'd expect from a haejangguk restaurant — green chili peppers with ssamjang and kkakdugi were more than enough.

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch also gives a free rice refill if you order one dish per person. Not many places are this generous these days, so it was genuinely touching.

What surprised me was that we assumed the two portions would come out in one shared pot, but instead each portion arrived separately, each in its own stone pot.

Having it served separately like this felt more hygienic, which was nice. I tried the broth first, and honestly, the broth here is no joke. There was zero heaviness — just the spicy kick I wanted, with an excellent sweet, savory depth on top of it.

The seasoning wasn't just sitting on top — it had soaked all the way into the radish, potatoes, and even into the cutlassfish itself. The fish flesh held together without falling apart, staying tender, and it was so good piled on rice.
I usually barely eat potatoes, but the potatoes in this stew were genuinely delicious. They weren't dry or starchy at all — really soft, and well seasoned enough that they weren't bland, which suited my taste perfectly.

Since it's the boneless version, there was no need to bother picking out bones, which made it that much more convenient. The portion was also surprisingly generous — I kept piling cutlassfish on rice until I'd finished a whole bowl.
Is Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk in Samsong worth a visit?
It was nice to rediscover Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, which I'd loved eating in Jeju, right near my house. This time I had the spicy, delicious cutlassfish stew, but I'm already thinking I should come back for a hot bowl of haejangguk next time. It's also a comfortable place for solo dining, so it seems like somewhere I could drop by any time.
If you want a taste of Jeju outside of Jeju itself, stop by Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch, a Deogyang-gu favorite. You'll leave with a satisfying, filling meal.
