A Handmade Burger Find Near Daeheung Station

While looking for somewhere to have lunch in Daeheung, I was craving a handmade burger, so I visited Bored & Hungry Mapo (보어드앤헝그리 마포). I usually love burgers anyway, so I try new handmade burger places whenever one opens, and I had been curious about this brand after hearing it started in Seongsu-dong.

Bored & Hungry Mapo is within walking distance of Daeheung Station, so it is in a good spot when you are looking for a burger place nearby. It is also fairly close to Sinchon, so it seemed like an easy place to head to for handmade burgers when you have plans in Sinchon.

The restaurant had the casual atmosphere you would expect from a burger joint, while still feeling stylish overall.

It seemed nice for coming alone for a burger, and it would also suit a handmade burger stop with friends or on a date in Sinchon.

The Burgers and Side We Ordered

Here is the menu at Bored & Hungry Mapo :) They serve several kinds of handmade burgers, including cheeseburgers and shrimp burgers. Along with burgers, there are sides such as corn ribs and butter garlic fries, plus milkshakes, so there were plenty of good things to pair with a burger. We ordered the Mutant Hot Shrimp Burger, Classic Cheese Single Burger, and O.G Champion Burger, then chose corn salad and Sprite as sides.

Mutant Hot Shrimp Burger

First, I would recommend the Mutant Hot Shrimp Burger if you like shrimp burgers.

It combined the springy texture of shrimp with a burger, and I think anyone who enjoys the distinctive flavor of shrimp burgers should give it a try.

The Straightforward Classic Cheese Single

True to its name, the Classic Cheese Single Burger was a cheeseburger that stuck closely to the basics.

The patty was cooked in a thin, smashed style, with crisped edges, and the cheese and grilled onions paired nicely for a savory, nutty flavor. It was an easy, reliable choice if you like a classic cheeseburger.

The O.G Champion Burger with Dill Pickles

The O.G Champion Burger looked a little more substantial from the start. It comes with two 8-patties, two slices of American cheese, O.G sauce, and grilled onions. You can choose either dill pickles or jalapeños, and I went with dill pickles.

With two patties and cheese layered together, each bite had a rich beef-and-cheese flavor, while the dill pickles added little bursts of freshness. Of the three burgers, this was definitely the most intensely flavored.

The corn salad we ordered as a side went well with the burgers. Having some in between made the meal feel a little lighter.

Using the Self-Serve Bar

We could get our ordered drinks from the self-serve bar.

Sauces, gloves, and cutlery were set out, so we could help ourselves to whatever we needed. I liked wearing the gloves while eating the burgers because it made them easier to enjoy. With the self-serve bar available, it was convenient to get what we needed throughout the meal.
