Seongsu pasta restaurant with salmon steak: Brivite Seongsu

There’s a great restaurant in Seongsu that I find myself going back to now and then: Brivite Seongsu (브리비트 성수) 🫶 I’d visited once before with my aunt and maternal grandmother, and I remembered that they had both really enjoyed it, so this time I went with my mom. It’s fairly close to home, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable too, so I come by whenever it pops into my mind.

One thing I personally love is that there’s no break time! It’s great for visiting when your mealtime is a little awkward. It can have a wait, though, so you may need to queue during busy hours. Even when I visited at an off-peak time on a weekday, quite a few tables were occupied.

Brivite Seongsu: location and atmosphere

It’s about 252 m from Exit 4 of Ttukseom Station, an easy distance to walk :) The exterior already has such a cute, charming feel.

Once inside, the whole place feels clean and cute!

It isn’t overly dark or heavy—just a comfortable atmosphere for a meal.

Personally, I think it’s fine for a family meal too, but the atmosphere suits a date or blind date even better.

The tables weren’t packed too tightly together, and even at this awkward weekday hour there were quite a lot of people, so I thought, yes, this really is a popular spot.

How to order and the self-service bar

Once you sit down, they bring over a sheet of paper and the menu. Take your time choosing, then shake the bell on the table when you’re ready to order. A staff member hears it and comes over to take your order, haha. It’s quietly fun when it’s your first visit! There’s also a separate self-service bar toward the back of the restaurant.

At the self-service bar, you can help yourself to pickles, napkins, and water. You can charge your phone too, which makes it easy to grab whatever you need while eating.

My mom and I visited together that day and ordered the spicy vongole oil pasta, salmon steak pasta, and spicy fried eggplant.

How was the spicy fried eggplant?

The first dish to arrive was the spicy fried eggplant!

It looked delicious from the start, but it tasted even better than I expected.

The coating was wonderfully crisp while the eggplant was soft, so the texture was great. Above all, the sauce had a little heat to it and went so well with the fried eggplant.

If it had just been plain fried eggplant, it might have felt a little bland, but the spicy sauce kept it from being greasy and had me reaching for more. This was personally my favorite of the sides.

Spicy vongole oil pasta and salmon steak pasta

Next came the spicy vongole oil pasta. Since it was an oil pasta, I worried it might be rich, but it was much cleaner and lighter to eat than expected. The clams gave it plenty of savory depth, and the touch of spice made it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. My mom said it was delicious too and ate it well.

And then the salmon steak pasta! This dish comes with ragù sauce and a salmon steak, and the combination worked better than I expected.

The salmon steak was tender and moist, so it was lovely with the pasta, while the ragù had a deep flavor that made it feel clearly different from the oil pasta. We ordered one oil pasta and one ragù pasta that day, and it was nice because the flavors didn’t overlap. Going from the clean vongole to the rich ragù, then back to the vongole, meant I didn’t get tired of either dish as quickly as I thought I might.

A pasta meal in Seongsu that stays on my mind

It’s a place I think of whenever I want pasta in Seongsu. It’s fairly close to home, so I visit now and then, and the food is delicious with generous portions, making it a satisfying value for the price. I went with my mom that day, and we enjoyed everything from the fried eggplant to the vongole and salmon steak pasta. I was happy that she was pleased too 🫶

The restaurant has a clean, cute atmosphere, so it’s great for a date or blind date, and with no break time, it’s also a good choice for an off-hour meal or brunch! Just keep in mind that there may be a wait. I think I’ll keep coming back whenever I want a delicious meal somewhere close by 🫶
