How to find Mikodam near Balsan Station, starting from the parking lot

Ho and I went to Mikodam for a proper full spread of a meal — it had been a while (haha). Since it's a new place, the exterior looked really clean and tidy. Plus there's a separate parking lot with 3 hours free, so it was easy to visit by car.

For reference, Mikodam shares a parking lot with Ihwajeong (이화정) right next door. After parking, you just walk around the side of the lot and the storefront comes right into view — not hard to find at all.

Separated tables and a private room: is it good for family gatherings?

Inside, the tables were each separated, which made the meal more comfortable than I expected. There's also a private room, which seemed like a good option for family gatherings, meals with parents, or a birthday — something a bit special. Sure enough, when we visited there were quite a lot of families, and many people dining with their parents.

The full-spread set for two: picking your soup, main and cockles

Looking at the menu, the signature item seemed to be the han-sang-gadeuk set (a full table spread), and à la carte ordering was also possible. After some thought, we went with the han-sang-gadeuk 2-person set!

What was great was that even the set menu lets you choose a bit according to your taste.

• Main dish: soy crab / beef jeon / LA galbi (+extra charge)
• Cockles: vinegar-seasoned / soy-marinated

It was nice being able to pick the dishes to suit our own palate.

A spread that lives up to its name, plus a free egg roll from the review event

Then the food started coming out... and it really lived up to its name — a full, generous spread!!! Grilled mackerel, jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), beef jeon, cockle salad, seaweed soup, and all kinds of side dishes — genuinely plentiful. It wasn't just one or two dishes; we got to try a little bit of a lot of different things, which I loved.

And thanks to a review event, we also got a solid serving of egg roll — the two of us ate really, really well.

Our two favourites: the seaweed soup and the beef jeon

Personally, the tastiest thing that day was the seaweed soup! The broth was clean with no gamey smell at all, so it was the most satisfying dish for my taste. Ho's top pick, on the other hand, was the beef jeon — he said it was soft and delicious. Just goes to show our tastes really differ.

The cockle salad, jeyuk, grilled mackerel, and side dishes were all solidly good overall, and best of all, the variety of dishes made it fun to pick and choose.

With 3 hours of free parking and a birthday event running as well, keep this place in mind if you're looking for a spot for a birthday or family gathering. 🎂

Final thoughts

Overall, Mikodam was clean and generous, and I left satisfied! The han-sang-gadeuk 2-person set let us try a good variety of Korean dishes, and the food came out neatly presented, making for a hearty meal. If you like Korean food, I'd recommend giving it a visit — great for a date, and highly recommended for a family meal too.

On top of that, there's 3 hours of free parking and a birthday event, so keep it in mind if you're looking for a spot for a birthday or family gathering. 🎂 What I liked most was the variety of menu choices, so you can pick dishes to suit your own taste and eat well.
