Magok café for Midnight Cacao & Aricha Boucle blends: Pict Roastery
In short
Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch is a roastery café in Gangseo, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Magoknaru Station. On a weekend afternoon, two americanos, the aged French toast and the Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake came to 29,200 won, with the first cup poured as the nutty Midnight Cacao blend and the free refill switched to the brighter, more acidic Aricha Boucle. The desserts at Pict Roastery were good, but the coffee was the most memorable part, since the refill lets you taste both blends in one visit.

I went to Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch, a café in Magoknaru. I visited on a weekend afternoon and ordered an americano, aged French toast, and matcha basque cheesecake. Both the coffee and the desserts were delicious, so I had a great time the whole visit — let me share the story.
How to get to Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch, and where to park
Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Magoknaru Station. The address is 161-1 Magok-jungang-ro, Room 226, 2F, Castle Park Magoknaru Station, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It's also close to Seoul Botanic Park, so it could be a nice stop before or after visiting the garden.

If you drive, you can use the building's basement parking, free for up to 2 hours with a café visit. The lot was spacious, so I had no trouble finding a spot or parking.
After parking, you take the building's dedicated elevator up to the 2nd floor.

I checked the sign for Room 226 and walked in along the corridor.

The round Pict Roastery sign came into view, so finding the café was easy.
What the Pict Roastery space looks like inside

The space is decorated mainly in black and gray, and the interior is quite clean and minimal.

When I visited around noon on a weekend, about three tables were seated. As lunchtime passed, more customers kept coming in — friends together, couples on dates, and people having coffee alone. The staff were friendly too, so I felt good from the moment I ordered.
The roasting room and the bean line-up at Pict Roastery

Pict Roastery roasts its own beans in-store, and the beans for sale were displayed by type.

Next to the counter, a glass-walled space held the roasting machine. Each bean had a card noting the origin, processing method, and tasting notes, which made it easy to pick a coffee.
Pict Roastery menu and prices

What we ordered at Pict Roastery: americano ₩4,900 × 2, aged French toast ₩11,900, and Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake ₩7,500. Total came to ₩29,200. You can add ice cream to the French toast, but we skipped it.
Americano taste test: Midnight Cacao vs Aricha Boucle
We ordered the americano with the nutty Midnight Cacao blend. The card listed notes of dark chocolate, cacao nibs, roasted walnut, and brown sugar — exactly my kind of nutty style, so I loved it from the first sip.

The coffee was so good it made me curious what the other beans would taste like.

Pict Roastery gives one free refill on americano ordered in-store, so for the refill I chose a bean with more acidity.

The Aricha Boucle blend I picked for the refill had tasting notes of floral, peach, apricot, honey, and black tea. Tasting it, that floral note came through exactly as described — surprisingly accurate. Not an unpleasant sharp sourness, but a fresh, fragrant acidity that was genuinely delicious.

The nutty bean and the acidic bean each had their own charm, and both were great. Haha. On weekdays from 11am to 2pm they knock ₩2,000 off the americano — if this place were near my office, I'd probably show up every lunch break. Hahaha.
Aged French toast: crisp outside, moist inside

We were told the aged French toast takes 15–20 minutes to come out after ordering. They use bread aged for 24 hours.

Crispy outside and moist inside, it was worth every minute of the wait. Even though the bread was thick, it stayed moist all the way through while keeping that crisp outer texture. We ordered one and shared it, but looking around, a lot of customers had ordered one French toast per person. Haha. Once I tasted it, I understood why.
Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake: rich and dense

The Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake was moist and dense, not too sweet, with a strong matcha flavor.
Is Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch worth a visit?
The French toast and matcha basque cheesecake at Pict Roastery were both good, but for me the coffee was what stuck with me most. Enjoying both my usual nutty bean and the acidic one made me curious about their specialty coffee and hand-drip options too.

With the americano discount on weekday lunch hours, I'd probably visit constantly if my office were nearby. Haha. If I have another reason to be in Magoknaru, I plan to come back for the coffee and French toast.
