Driving to a Magok Italian restaurant for salmon steak: Romaok Magok

In short

Romaok Magok is an Italian restaurant with Korean touches on the 3rd floor of LG Art Center Seoul in Gangseo, Seoul. Easy to reach by car, Romaok Magok served a salmon steak that was crisp outside and moist inside with no fishy taste, plus an abalone geou (abalone innards) cream sauce pasta that was rich and deeply savory. With a large underground parking garage and Tadao Ando architecture, Romaok Magok is a solid pick for anniversaries and family meals.

Hi everyone! Today I visited the Romaok location inside the art center — Romaok Magok...! I'd always seen this place while passing by and was so curious, and it happened to be easy to get to by car (walking's been hard for me lately 😭), so I finally went...! The parking here is really that good ❤️ Let me tell you all about it~

Getting to Romaok Magok and parking

Romaok Magok is located on the 3rd floor of the LG Art Center Seoul building, so it's really accessible. It's directly connected to Magongnaru Station on Line 9 and the Airport Railroad, so it's convenient to reach by public transit too.

Even if you drive, there's a large underground parking garage, so you can visit without any parking stress! (The parking is really great, so I highly recommend it 🧚‍♀️)

The atmosphere inside Tadao Ando's architecture

Walking into the entrance of Romaok Magok, the wide-open high ceilings and soft orange lighting were so pretty ☺️ There's an exquisite harmony between an Eastern mood and Western vintage-style architecture.

Hall seating with arched structures and wood-toned interior

The arched structures and warm wood-toned interior create an atmosphere that's calm yet formal. I heard the window seats, where you can enjoy the sculptural beauty and view of the Ando building, are especially popular for dates or anniversaries!

What we ordered and how it tasted

Table set with salmon steak and abalone geou pasta

For this visit, we picked Romaok's popular dining menu items: the salmon steak and the abalone geou (abalone innards) cream sauce pasta.

Salmon Steak

Crisp-outside, moist-inside salmon steak at Romaok Magok

This salmon dish is seared crisp on the outside while staying moist and juicy inside. The salmon's rich fattiness and savory flavor really come through beautifully.

The sauce served alongside cleanly cuts through any richness from the salmon. The garnish combination is excellent, giving the dish varied texture. There's no fishy taste at all, so even people who don't usually like seafood could enjoy this without worry! Pair it with a clean glass of white wine for an even better flavor experience.

Abalone Geou Cream Pasta

A plate of rich abalone geou cream sauce pasta

This is a rich cream pasta made generously with fresh abalone innards (geou). The noodles keep a nice chewy bite, so the umami of the sauce clings to every strand. The deep, thick flavor of the abalone innards spreads across your whole mouth, and any fishiness is completely tamed — it's not overpowering at all, just wonderfully savory.

On top of the pasta is a gently steamed abalone garnish that adds a fun chewy texture. Every bite delivers a strong, rich savoriness from the geou sauce — I think this is the signature dish you absolutely must order when you visit Romaok ☺️

Both the food quality and the atmosphere are highly satisfying. It's great to pair with an exhibition or performance at LG Art Center Seoul before or after the meal as a date course. On weekends or weekday evenings, window seats and the main hall tend to fill up early, so it's a good idea to book ahead through the Catchtable app.
