Lately I've been looking for lunches that are hearty without being too heavy. Eating lunch every day, you end up with the same kinds of meals on repeat, but a salad alone leaves me hungry again pretty quickly, so I'm often stuck on what to eat.

So this time I went to Hola Poke Seolleung Branch to get a poke bowl where I could have vegetables, protein, and a bunch of toppings all at once.

Inside Hola Poke Seolleung Branch: the room and the solo seats
Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is on the 2nd floor, and once you step inside, the clean, tidy atmosphere is the first thing you notice. There are also seats that work well for eating alone, so it didn't feel awkward at all to visit solo.

You order by looking at the menu and picking the poke, base, and sauce you want, which I liked because you can build it to your own taste. There's a good variety of poke types too — what I picked this time was the garlic shrimp poke!
Garlic shrimp poke 🍤🦐 with avocado added

The garlic shrimp poke basically comes with garlic shrimp and the standard toppings. Since I love shrimp and usually prefer shrimp toppings when I get poke, I went with this one! And I added avocado on top.

There was a generous amount of fresh vegetables, so the crunchy texture was great. With the crunch of the vegetables mixed in among softer ingredients like the shrimp and avocado, every spoonful stayed interesting — never boring.
And the avocado I added! Its soft, nutty flavor paired really well with the shrimp. Adding avocado to the poke gave the whole bowl a slightly softer texture overall, and personally, I felt like adding it was a good call.
Pineapple and corn among the toppings
Last but not least — pineapple, which is essential to any poke! The pineapple was fresh and sweet, giving the whole bowl a refreshing lift. After eating shrimp and vegetables for a while, biting into pineapple felt like it reset my palate, which I liked.

There was also corn, which I'm secretly a fan of when eating poke. Corn has that popping texture and a subtle sweetness, and it works better in poke than you'd expect. Getting a hint of sweetness now and then among the plain vegetables was fun.

How did the garlic shrimp taste?
The shrimp had a springy texture with garlic flavor added, which paired well with the plain vegetables. Since the shrimp served as the protein topping in the poke, it definitely felt more like a full meal than just eating a salad.
Is Hola Poke Seolleung worth it for lunch?
When you're watching your diet or managing your meals, you want to avoid a lunch that's too heavy, but there are days when just eating salad feels unsatisfying. Poke seems to be the perfect middle-ground choice for those days.
Rather than just eating vegetables, having toppings like shrimp and avocado let me enjoy a variety of textures and flavors, and I liked being able to eat several ingredients together in one bowl.
If you're looking for a lunch near Seolleung Station that's clean but filling, give the poke menu a try. Especially if you like shrimp and avocado like I do, I'd recommend the garlic shrimp poke + avocado combo :)
